I've tried a some of mods and they all seem to be costing me a few feet rather than gaining any distance. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get over 30 feet. I'm using stock darts because that's what my friends will be using and we want to be able to salvage each other's ammo.

First I removed the air resticter. That seemed to lose me a few feet. Compared to a stock nf, I usually got 3-5 feet less. Then I taped up where the barrel meets the air chamber for a better seal and gave the spring a little bit of a stetch. That seemed to put me back on par with the stock nf. Then I tried replacing the barrel with a Crayola marker casing, making sure everything was sealed. It lost me about 1-2 feet. I put the stock barrel back in and put in a higher tension spring. That helped, but it was too high tension so it had trouble cocking. I think I can solve that problem by finding a happy medium between that spring and the stock one though.

Anyway, I've got some 1/2'' PVC and CPVC, but the PVC is too wide and the CPVC is just a little bit too tight to fit a stock dart in there.

Am I doing something wrong? Any help or tips you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

dude that is not really possible but are your darts mashed up and not very firm? and for the spring stretch it will only work if you blow torch it and the metal hardens stretched out.

I'm sorry, what's impossible?

My darts are fine, and I've got spares just in case I mess any up too badly.

CPVC is always tight on darts, that's why it makes a good barrel for springer pistols. It lets the pressure build up then when it reaches the right pressure it releases the dart at a high velocity. If you use that, try twisting the dart into the barrel. It should help, my CPVC'ed nitefinders have never gotten below 50 feet

Asides from that though, I really have no idea why these mods wouldn't help your gun. Throw on some goop maybe?

-Get an ACE #49 spring. It's dimensions are 3.5"x7/8"x0.08.
-If CPVC is too tight, try 17/32" brass tubing. I get mine at ACE also.
-Don't tape the barrel on. Use epoxy, plumbers goop or epoxy putty.

Ok, I tried putting electrical tape on the plunger underneath the o-ring, and then used the 1/2'' cpvc as a barrel, hot glueing it airtight and then taping it up for extra support. I can get the darts into the cpvc with the help of the vacuum from the plunger now, but I'm only getting 10-15 feet for some reason. I stuck some rubber bands on the plunger handle, and I can get 35-40.

Is there any possibility that you could post some pics for diagnosis?

Have you lubricated the plunger? If so, then you probable have too much tape under the o-ring. If not, then you really should, because it sounds like the head is sticking in the tube.

Wait a minute.

Your gun is vacuum loading, but you're getting only getting 10-15 feet!? This is strange indeed, I would also like to vote that you show us some pictures.

I had the same problem with mine at first. I sealed the plunger tube sections with hotglue and e-tape. I would also try sticking the tip of your hot glue gun in the dart to make the hole bigger it gave me another 5 feet.

This is a pickle.

This MAY have happened to one of mine.
Are there any cracks in the plunger tube or where the air restrictors used to be?
If so you should wrap these areas in e-tape

Pics would also be good.

There might be to much friction between the plunger head and tube. That would explain how you blaster can vacuum load and still get crappy ranges. Try adding some lube or removing the E-tape.

Thanks for the replies guys.

The air chamber is actually airtight. I've been messing around with it and found that silicone lube worked really well. It got about 40 feet without rubberbands and 50 with them. But the next day it was back to being lame again. Am I using the right kind of lubricant?

1/2 cpvc should work just fine you just have to shove it in there (please no "thats what she saids") it seals very well but you need a coupler preferably 3/4 to 1/2 inch i did this and i get great ranges also you could add a crossfire spring into it also (my brother did this and he gets 60 foot ranges)

Is the coupler necessary? I got a good seal just sticking it up against the air chamber with the drilled out bit that the air restrictor spring nests up against and then hot gluing it.
