I have read all the posts about the Vulcan"s cocking mechanism breaking so let me tell you what the problem is. The spring on the cocking paw is to week. it wears out in about a week and then people try to keep playing with it. This breaks the paw. So to avoid the whole thing just move the spring to make it stronger

Do you mean the Plunger? Or is cocking paw a technical term?
EDIT: Ok I'm not exactly what you're talking about, but I'm guessing the"paw" is the plunger head. either way, some pictures of a before and after mod would be nice.

When the plunger moves forward and backwards it brings the cocking paw with it and it turns the belt advancer when it goes through the groves.

The Vulcan is a heavy plastic behemoth that breaks easily and is not worth $40.

that is why I bought one at goodwill for $10. fixed it and bought a chain at target.

So to avoid the whole thing just move the spring to make it stronger

What I did was REPLACE the broken spring with a section of air restrictor spring bent and cut to be about the same as the original one (except stronger).

If you take it out of the groove and rotate it 90 degrees it will be fine

I got my vulcan on christmas and it is still perfectly normal (well as normal as a vulcan can get)

That's not the problem. The "cocking paw" that you describe isn't directly linked to the rotation mechanism at all.
When priming manually, that priming mechanism pushes both the "cocking paw" or plunger, as we call it, and the rotation mechanism arm. When firing automatically, the gears on the train mesh with both to make the connection. I.e. that's not the problem.

I know the problem, but it's far from easily fixed. It would take a re-engineering of the Vulcan to fix, so it's not even worth it really. Also, we frown on speculation and concept threads (also in response to the "Pioneering Speedloaders" thread).
