I just picked up a Big Salvo from Goodwill a couple minutes ago. It seems to work but if i pump it slow the air leaks out of all the barrels. The only way to keep air in the chambers is to pump it really hard really fast, then it works. Whats a good way to fix this?

I know the most typical answer is: "Drown it in silicone lube". But you'll be lucky if that alone works. This problem is popular for me on some AT2K's I've had and one of my Big Salvos. I wiped the little nozzle clean with a ear-cleaner (WTF are those things called again?) and followed that up with some silicone spray. It helped, but the missile still moved a little while pumping.

Maybe you'll have better luck trying that?

On the other hand, the guy who posted before me used the word 'fuck' a lot so he probably knows what he's talking about.

I'll try it. Thanks, I'm pretty sure you're talking about Q-tips right? Haha. I don't know much about Big Salvo's But I didn't even open it up, I just stuck 10" CPVC barrels down each existing barrel with some e-tape on each and I'm getting about 110'-120' ranges level. Is it supposed to be that awesome?

Without a plugged pump? It seems a little unlikely to me, but who knows? Maybe you have an exceptionally powerful one.

Q-tips! That's it!

And according to the mods in the directory, 100-120 seems normal.

If you want to open up the gun and get at the tubing, lubricating the air chamber from the back may help.

From what you described, there's too much friction between the plug and the tube that houses it, which explains why the air chamber seals correctly when you pump fast.

Yeah I think so, I've heard that the OP valve on it kicks in at around 15 pumps, mine does at 22 pumps.

If you haven't already solved your problem, try Mineral oil. I've never used it on an air gun myself, but it's awesome with spring guns and I've heard of good results with airguns. Plus it's cheaper than silicone lube, and it pours out of a bottle so you can easily drown whatever leaky parts you have to maximize the odds of fixing it. Hope this helps.
