I could bring along a Nerf Stormfire "Flag" for the bomb rounds, or the CTF rounds for that matter.

50 cents is how much OMC charges so... 60-75 cents per foot?

Uh, okay, I'm gonna have to filter through all the talk of Stefans, PETG, and FBR...

Salmon, please do. I haven't got them working yet and I don't think I'll make it by tomorrow.

I just realized all I have that would still work as Nerf ammo is about 50 micros. Damn, I gotta get to work! Screw the LS, it's gonna have to wait. On that note, I'm trying to get to a Toys'R'us today to stock up some supplementary blasters to last me for until I can get some worthwhile replacements for what I have.

Zero Hour approaches. I hope all of you are thoroughly prepared.

God! Jack, Francesca and I only have like 300 darts to split among each other for the war as of now. Darkside, do you have any medium wall PETG to sell? I need to rebarrel my 3K, and I can't exactly order some from OMC the night before the war....
Schizo, no problem. I only have one flag, so it'd be more suited for Bomb rounds.

Cool. We need a bomb more than anything, since I can fashion a flag in 5 minutes and we already have, apparently, someone who has some flags they'd like to bring.

Now, I'm off to find some supplement... And, oh God, I've got 200 stefans to make.

Okay, then. Really, at this point, it's too late to add anyone to a list, but that never means you can't come.

I want as many people as possible to attend.

And, good news, everyone! I was able to fix my Longshot today, around 10, and I purchased a new N-Strike set (Titan and what have you (Do they still even MAKE those?!)), so I'll be up all night making the Hornet and Scout war-worthy. The bad news is that I only had enough FBR to make 95 stefans. (I had enough to make 110, but it was a bad batch that had many creases)

RECAP TIME!
Awesome war, you guys. Really really fun, and great to connect all the faces to the usernames.

PROS:
- The war being remarkably well planned out. You did a great job, SchizoMC, and it was the first ever Texas nerf war, too.
- Getting a Scorpion Bow from Darkside--- dizzy was right, it's NOTHING like a BBB.
- Meeting some really cool people.
- Schizo rickrolling us.
- Talking about various Nerfhaven-related topics with said people.
- SLUSHIES!!!!
- POPSICLES!!!
- Awesomesauce location, except for the ungodly heat.
- Sweet pistol rounds, probably the most fun I've ever played.
- Schizo's stock Titan. 'Nuff said.
- Not getting horribly sunburned.
- Seeing those cool NF holsters made out of poly folders in use.
- Getting some pretty sweet footage with my mom's HD camera. (But none of the pistol rounds!)
- Darkside being awesome and letting me use some e-tape to fix my K9 when the hot glue melted off from the heat.
- Seeing everyone else's guns.
- Me shooting at Wing'd Man with my K9, said K9 jamming, him cocking and aiming his Daedalus(which is beast by the way, mad props) at me, him pulling the trigger, me being terrified(it was my last life), and the dart being a dud and fluttering out of the barrel like a butterfly. :)
- Having way more darts then I would have ever needed. I still have like 70 in my pocket as I'm typing this.
- Selling a few guns.
- And more to come soon.
CONS:
- The heat! My face got redder than a beet in the hot Texas sun...
- We just kind of screwed around in the staging area for like an hour in between rounds.
- Getting shot in the thigh point-blank by Darkside with his 2K, and getting this huge nasty bruise from it.
- My K9 jamming a lot, and not shooting as far as I had hoped.
- Me sucking in the Team Deathmatch round.
- Getting blisters and having to walk barefoot the rest of the day... on the hot pavement...
- Me dropping my NF like a thousand times during the Team Deathmatch round. I really need to make a holster.
- The CTF round, but that was largely our fault. Our flag was way too hard to find, I admit, and it turned into a bunch of boring standoffs/rushes. However, there was like NO shade and NO cover on our side, so it wasn't really balanced.

It's the day after DAFT, and I've been recapping to my family on how awesome it was all morning. I had so much fun, and it was a great start to what I'm sure will be a larger nerfing community in Texas. Schizo did a wonderful job organizing the entire thing, and I'm really glad he took the time to. It's about time we've had a Texas war. Next time, however, we should do it sometime in the spring or fall as the heat was pretty unbearable. Other than that, I loved the location, and really enjoyed the games. The pistol rounds would have to be my favorites. So, yeah. That concludes a pretty amazing nerf war. Thanks to Schitz for hosting it. :)

Thanks for your kind words, Salmon and Francesca.

And, with that, I start my post:

DAFT 09: A Day in Review
Well, I'm really glad with how DAFT came out. Months of planning, gallons of sweat, and many dollars all paid off when yesterday's war came around the block. When I showed up in the back parking lot of Seguin High, most of the attendees were already there. The first one to greet me was Salmon. I was somewhat surprised at the turnout by that point. It was only 12:35, and already, Salmon, Francesca, darkside, Jack, and a few more had shown up. We decided, then, that we'd probably have to go to Cravens Park, so we all loaded up and there was a damned convoy going down Silo Road. I was really proud of the event already.

We finally got to Cravens. After unpacking everything, Salmon's mother realized that some people who hadn't arrived yet would be still going to Seguin, so she got in her SUV and drove back up to make sure everyone (or as many people as she could. Sorry, HiTech) could find their way to Cravens. During that time, we had a bit of a showoff of our blasters. Darkside had a pretty impressive haul. A few range-tests and sales later, we organized the first war of the day: Team Deathmatch.

My thanks go to Darkside for letting me borrow his AT2k. All I had before the start of the war was my friend's Nitefinder and my own crappy stefans. This first war, played at 4/15 rules, didn't go greatly. It was fun, but no one actually got outed. Also, there was no shade and everyone got their ass kicked, mine especially, by the heat. So, we retreated to the shade around the guns, filled up with water, spoke, and I Rickroll'd everyone... Live. With my own voice.

The only thing that woulda made it better is if Ben had been there. And, several minutes later, when we started our badass pistol round (No Airtechs, dammit!), Ben finally showed up. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to Rickroll everyone again, but... He actually held his own in the pistol round, despite never actually nerfing in his life. Props to Ben. He says he's going to join the Haven. We had another pistol round, to see how things would differ with different pistols (Hey, I had my Recon AND a NF. I wasn't the only one with 2 pistols, either).

After that, we changed our guns, made a few sales, watched a DVD of a school project I'd done with several nerf guns (Which won't be shown here, due to its tenuous relation to nerf and the fact that there are no losers in nerf. (And I did spell out loser. I don't believe in the filter when I can do it myself)), and set up Capture The Flag. Way out towards the back of the park is a volleyball court, where Red Team set up (And proceeded to hide their flag in the trash can) and a tree in a dip in the ground, where White Team set up. We split up, with 2 people, myself included, defending our base and 3 people attacking the other. Red Team performed the opposite tactic, even going the other way around a line of trees to come to us. It was rather amusing. We held them off, however, forcing them back to their base, but in doing so, I ran almost out of ammo and we still couldn't find their flag. The game went back and forth, and I got sent in as cannon fodder since I was out of ammo. Finally, we declared the game over when one of the attendee's mothers came with Slurpees and Popsicles.

During our partaking in these wonderful blessings, my dad showed up from his ice skating venture at the mall with his girlfriend's wrist broken... And Ibuprofen.

Unfortunately, it was after this war that DAFT began to die down. A few people had to leave during the break, and Salmon, Francesca, and Jack could only stay for one more round. So, we finished up, carried all the blasters back to camp and set up the final war: Humans Vs Zombies.

Since it was the last battle, and pretty much done for the hell of it, I picked up a stock Titan and 2 missiles while Ben went and set up as Alpha Zombie. Exhausted out of my mind and slowly dying of dehydration, I stumbled toward him (How role-reversal) and fired my rocket, missing. Ben charged at me, and Brians were consumed. It's funny, I don't know a Brian. Finally after much chasing, we finally narrowed it down to Darkside and his PETG'd NF. We surrounded him and that Ben charged and tagged him, getting impaled on the blaster in doing so.

We all walked back to camp, smiling from a day of fun, packed up, and wished everyone a good day. Darkside voiced plans to hold a war this winter, when it's not so hot, and Salmon and Wing'd Man (Who looks like a girl, by the way), who live in Austin, are likely hosts, along with Francesca, of DAFT 10, since Sputnik never showed up to discuss San Angelo.

Overall, it was one of the best days I've ever had. I really hope this has gotten the attention of all the Texan nerfers out there. I hope DAFT finally puts Texas on the map of major nerf wars, right alongside SoCal and New Jersey.

But, uh, next year, Salmon and Francesca, please try to find an indoor place. We'll all pool our money, alright?

-SchizophrenicMC

PS, Darkside, you owe me two dollars.

At least I don't have a problem with looking like a hobo with height issues. Besides, people can immediately tell I'm a guy who's hit puberty!

Um, I just realized we picked up a set of Dart Tag Goggles someone left behind. I need to know who's missing them so I can mail them off.

Oh, and in the one picture, the yellow thing in front of my face is my friend's Nitefinder as I tossed it around.

EDIT: Losing your pump handle isn't too bad a problem. It can easily be put back in. I would suggest, though, immediately reinforcing the catch so it doesn't fall out again.

I'll try to get my photos up tomorrow or so, but I'm not really sure how to upload from my mom's camera, so it could be a good while longer.
