Posted Image

When I get the brass i need i will be making one. I was hoping to maybe get some input on this.
I have yet to figure out a way to reload the darts. Any ideas would be helpful.

Im sorry for that. My computer resized the image and made it to small

I have thought of new clips before and this one has been going through my head, so by all means, try it.

I was thinking something similar, but this is basically an RSCB with a direct dart contact and a spring. If there were some way to incorparate a closing section that will surround the dart, then this could be very useful. I might even give it a try...

P.S, as for the how the dart would make it to the barrel, I sugest the end of the clip be curved, so instead of a dropping dart, it would just be pushed into place.

The image is a little small, luckily i'm looking at it on a good screen so it's intelligible.
that's a good idea, though it looks largely gravity dependent and the Electric tape might not be airtight for firing.

I'm interested in seeing some implementation.
Good thinking.

The only problem is that the tension from the spring is likely to keep the lead dart in place, rather than allow it to drop in to the barrel. Perhaps if there was a ramp at the end, which would force the darts down as the spring pushes them forward? Or, you could make it a more positive movement by adding a little trough (like a half pipe of brass) with a peg that sticks through the top pipe, and is spring loaded to keep it pressed out. Then, have a mechanism attached to the pump handle that pushes the peg in and kick the dart in to the open barrel. This is a good idea! I may have to build one! :)

EDIT: Hahaha! I totally missed Rokor's post.

I thought I saw something like this before.

Looks pretty similar to me, maybe it could help your design a bit.

the problem is, the darts won't drop down if it's being pressed against the wall by the spring. Perhaps a ramp, but it would still be prone to jamming, because there is no way to get the rear end of the dart to drop down.

It's not really your concept. It's just an inline clip from a pump action shotgun, but without the lever that brings the shell to the barrel (I'm talking real guns, of course).

I don't like these homemade concept threads, because homemades are really only cool if you actually make them!

Well I never said it was my concept Wes, but your right. I was hoping just to get a weak enough spring that I wouldnt need a ramp but I see now that I need one.

Thank you trogdor65, Ive never seen that before, and it probably will help me. I can resize the image if that would help anyone. I would be rather large though.

Actually, splitlip's writeup for the thundersplat has an inline clip very similar to this, except his darts are pulled out when they reach the end, rather than falling into a barrel.

Good idea. Only problem is it wouldn't be compatible with air guns, as the brass need to be pushed back into an empty plunger tube (plunger already primed). A tank wouldn't be able to do that unless you have a ton of dead space.

this will not work. The dart will not want to fall down. Plus the barrel has to be huge so it wount house darts very well.

Stop speculating and build something. Ever seen the 25 page 4 year monster of speculation that was the "Homemade Nerf Shotgun"? Never got anything accomplished, and it got closed anyway.

Ompa built a mag of this type a few years ago, for his NEAR shotgun. He ended up trashing it after having inconsistent feed and jamming issues.

Foam is a very malleable material. The force of the spring would either be too strong and squish the foam, or too weak and not advance the darts at all/inconsistently. It could be accomplished by using shells, but then you would need to figure out some sort of ejector/extractor mechanism. Unless you have a huge amount of skill and experience, it would be very difficult to build something of this magnitude.

I, too, had this idea, but never got around to trying it. Why don't you go out and try it yourself. The springs you could use would be the ones from the an air resticter. Those are weak enough to not squish the darts, but have enough force to push the dart forward.

well, Now that I can actually see the diagram (I'm at work)

I Think I could work but with you puch the dart into the chamber. as in the dart to loaded "hovers" over the open breech and you push it in. then you close the breech.
