just got back from Walmart and saw on the very top shelf a new toy. It's two tubes that slide into and out of each other to make the air compression/delivery system with a rocket that slips on top. It's all hand powered, no springs/triggers so I'm sure it has poor accuracy but it claims 35 feet and it's only $4.42. Has anyone seen these.

It was all the way on the top most shelf and I had to jump to reach it so they aren't really on the floor yet.

Oh, nevermind. Um, so is this like one of those "Poof" guns?

It sure sounds like it. Man, Lanard is really pulling out the stops in their campaign to become the next Nerf. I bet there are OTHERS like this weapon out there someplace.

those were actually their first first "nerfish" gun. It's been around since like, 1996.

Yes, I am aware I have one of the original ones. These days, they also have...
Two pack dart pistols
dart blowgun
mini bow and arrow
mini Ramrocket
Long distance Ramrocket
Slingshot
Ramrocket w/ parachute arrows
Stomp-Rocket launcher
and a double-barrel version of the classic Poof Ramrocket

Poof toys

It's a shame for us that Poof chose to stick with the low-budget and simplistic blasters, instead of copying other companies like Lanard!

That looks a lot like it but this things rocket is way better. The projectile is about a foot long and shaped like a rocket. It's yellow with a black tip and blue (I think) fins. It's polly bagged and the outer tube is made out of paper (like a model rocket tube). I'll see if I can't pick one up on my next trip out that way.

Lanard is indeed pushing things and I'm sure Hasbro is well aware of this. Unfortunately Hasbro looks like they are trying to price their way out of their target market. I love the nite finder, a great gun for a great price, good job Hasbro. But now we hear of the fall line consisting of an uber boxed set for $40, that's a little steep.

Let’s just say that the Nerf line consists of a $6 gun and a $40 boxed set, hmm that leaves a big gap to be filled in the $10-$20 range. I think this is a vital range to target as $40 is well beyond a weeks allowance (at least as far as I know). I remember getting $1 a day paid every other week so I’d have $14 to spend. I think Lanard knows this well and they are making good products in the price range of their target audience. Sure boxed sets are cool to ask for Christmas and birthdays but that’s 2 occasions a year for each kid, in my $1 a day scenario a kid will have $14 26 times a year. I think I’d want a better shot at those 26 times than I would of the 2 times, it just makes sense.

Of course I’m not a business major or anything but it just makes sense to me. Hasbro should cover their asses and provide multiple reasonably priced guns to keep Lanard from dominating that price range.

One thing I've found with Poof brand is that the darts that are for their dart launcher are actually really great as mega dart replacements, I highly recommend them.

First of all, sporkboy, Poof made those large rockets too, see?

Alright, this is a little bit odd, but check it out.

I was navigating the Flying Toys Limited website. This is so far the exclusive distributor of Lanard toy guns. (Lanard also makes crappy action figures and play sets, which you CAN find on Amazon etc.) Lanard's own .com is under construction, which is better than being non-existant like it was a few months ago, I believe. Anyhow, Lanard is only 1 of the few brands that is distributed by the British company; I was checking out what else was there, I noticed that Poof is also listed. This would seem a much better reason for why Lanard is producing a version of their own Ram Rockets type toys now. I am not positive what their situation is, but I imagine the 2 companies are working together or owned by the same parent company. The same dorky kid even models both products as we see here.

I was just about to post about the same thing when I saw this. I picked one up, it fires about 45 feet. I shoved some pvc in the arrow barrel after removing the air restrictors and got poor results. I'm thinking this has to do with the heavier of a projectile instead of a tiny one. I'm gonna hook a handle on the back part and affix some bungee cords to it to form some sort of lanard BnA.
