How: PM me with your email and I will keep you up to date.
What: Faux, foam combat with a group of about 10 or more players.
When: Almost every week.
Where: Cypress College, Oxford Academy, and other places around Orange County.
Why: We like fun.

You should come if:
  • You like fun (assaulting people with foam is fun)
  • You like to try out odd scenarios
  • You have lots of money and are generous
You shouldn't come if:
  • You don't like fun
  • You don't like melee weapons and cannot handle having your darts deflected back at you
  • A lack of schedule and structure would inhibit your enjoyment of nerfing
  • You need more than 3 hours notice.
Typical Scenarios:
  • Jenga-Strike (Team)
Counter-Strike style bombing mission with Jenga blocks and a timer setup as the bomb. To diffuse the bomb you must disassemble the Jenga blocks by 5 pieces. It's surprisingly difficult while under fire.
  • Rubik's-Strike (Team)
Counter-Strike style bombing mission with Jenga blocks and a timer setup as the bomb. To diffuse the bomb you must disassemble the Jenga blocks by 5 pieces. It's surprisingly difficult while under fire.
  • Deathmatch: Kill 'em All! (Individual or Team)
The winner is the first person to tag every other player at least once. Infinite respawn.
  • King of the Hill/Kill (Individual or Team)
The person at the top of the hill is the king; while you're the king, you get a point for every person you shoot. The first to X points wins. Infinite respawn.
  • Witch Doctor (Team)
Just like the rules are from the official Dart Tag set, except:
    1. No player conversions.
    2. You have to say "Oo-ee, oo-ah-ah, ting-tang, walla-walla, bing-bang" to bring someone back.
  • Elimination: Timed (Individual or Team)
If you don't get kills by regular intervals you're out.
  • Elimination: Vampires (Individual or Team)
For every person you eliminate from the game, you gain an additional "life."
  • Elimination: Zombies* (Individual or Team)
If you get eliminated, you become a zombie (we have over-sized foam hands for the zombies). When you're a zombie, you can't use a gun, you respawn infinitely, and must tag living players with your hands (foam in our case). If you manage to tag a player, you come back to life and the player you tagged becomes a zombie. The last living player wins.
*We also play with a variant rule that as a zombie, you cannot attack the last person to shoot you. This prevents pestering.

Past scenarios:
  • Battle Royale
  • Ragnarok
  • Pearl Harbor
  • Santa's Crusade Against the Holidays

Okay, great idea, post a thread of a war on the same day as the actual war. I would put money on the fact that no body from the NIC attended. Am I right?

We tried a Counter-Strike style bombing scenario entitled "Jenga-Strike" today. It was a great fun until the rain joined in. We will most likely be playing again in two weeks (1/17).

Okay, great idea, post a thread of a war on the same day as the actual war. I would put money on the fact that no body from the NIC attended. Am I right?

You are right!

I initially pondered, "Should I bother letting the NIC know that we are playing today and that we play on subsequent alternating Saturday afternoons?" Then, I realized, as I'm sure you have, "There is a very small possibility that someone living in Orange County might be on the forums within the next few hours, have a free afternoon, and be interested in playing, or perhaps, someone might see that we played today and would like to join us on a future Saturday afternoon as previously posted."

I was worried that someone might disregard these aforementioned possibilities; so, I called attention to the ill-suited time restraint in my post to dissuade any unnecessary comments. I am glad you picked up on this and have recognized my recently employed foresight.

You could put money down on it, but wouldn't your return be proportional to the likelihood of someone showing up? The notice wasn't just the same day; it was 3 hours! What kind of odds would you get on that?

If anyone else would like to praise the greatness of my ideas, make declarations about things that are likely to occur, or anything else, please feel free to PM. As I am new here, I am eager to converse with more friendly members of the NIC; I hope everyone is as amicable and as right as rokor.

Thanks for the heads-up; I'll see if anyone from my group can make it. We had 8 people show up this Saturday, and our attendance ranges from 6-12. We've played at Huntington Central, El Dorado, and Cypress college so far, but we're always trying out new games and locations. Where do you play?

With S.C.U.N. we play all over SoCal. Anywhere from Corona, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Santa Ana, Glendora, or Walnut. But my local group plays at Burke Park, and Sowers Middle School in Huntington Beach.

Now with S.C.U.N. we are starting to have around 2 wars a month, which is ridonkulous...

Fireshaw, send me a personal message with your email address in it, and I'll send you a linked invite to the private SCUN forum, where we do most of the planning for So Cal wars. You can advertise your events in there, get to know us, AND you'll only be talking to people who are in your area and able to come, so it's a perfect way to get connected.

Hope we can get you and your group out to LANO in a few weeks!

It has been a while since this was posted, our attendance has grown, it seems silly to post the same thing twice, and there is additional info.

Does anyone have the address of the war in Mission Viejo this weekend? There will be 4 people from Buena Park attending! (Unless my work conflicts with schedule)

Why did you triple-post in this thread? You should simply send a PM to the author of the first post if you want an update.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

Being a dick isn't getting shot by a shotgun titan point blank, being barrel "punched" by a longshot is.
