I know that I'm new to the haven so bear with me please. On to the topic, as you can guess by the title, do you guys think the new gun, the "vulcan" is really worth it? I have money to spend from Christmas so I was wondering whether to get that or a longshot. Any feedback would be nice. Ranges would also would be appreciated as well as "modibility" so to speak. Thanks :D

Bear?

As for the vulcan, It depends on what works for you, the vulcan is very bulky and heavy and is generally impractical at a nerf war, however with extensive modifications it can get decent ranges for its size. With little modification the vulcan excels at ROF and its high ammo count however range and accuracy are not its strong points, get some friends and have a couple wars in your neighborhood, find out what works for you and then decide to get what would help your gameplay. Hope this helps and good luck with your decision!

Thanks for the advice. I don't really go to real nerf official "wars" so the size of the field is only my backyard (which isn't really that big) so a range of around (at least) 20 ft would be good. Is that achievable?

Easily. The Vulcan gets ranges of about 30 feet when stock. The Vulcan is best used as a stationary emplacement, whereas the Longshot gets the same range, lower ROF, and higher mobility. The Vulcan excels at indoor wars where one can set it up in a room and wait for someone to show up. The Longshot, however, is more mobile, can get better ranges when modded, and costs less. So unless you play indoors a lot, want to be frugal, or just want bragging rights, I would choose the Longshot.

Well yes the vulcan can get more than 20 ft without modifications, however if your nerfing in a backyard it would be retarded to lug around such a big gun for the range necessary, I would recommend using a firefly, recon, magstrike, or even a rapidfire 20 if your eager for ROF.

edit:
damn it eclipse you beat me to it!

The Vulcan is only practical for indoor wars and for a stationary turret in outdoor wars. It's inaccurate, it has little range potential, and it takes FOREVER to reload, but it's fucking FUN. It is probably the most morbidly amusing nerf gun I have ever fired.

Bottom line: If you war outside, the Vulcan is not worth it. If you war inside, it's definitely worth it.

There are tons of Vulcan threads already where people talk about it alot. No one can tell you whether or not it is right for you. You did not need to make a thread about this.
