Well, this was posted in the modification/paintjob thread, and I said I would make a write up of it, so here it is. First of all, this modification is creating a comfy shell for an air gun which will make it easier to use/more durable and accurate then the stock shell it comes in. One of the greatest parts about the Firepike (which is my name for the finished gun), is that it doesn't require one certain kind of airtank to make it, almost any airtank will fit! This excludes a few of the very large air tanks, ie titan, BBBB but I think that's about it (correct me if I'm wrong).

I originally bought this gun off Coop, so credit for the idea goes to him, but he sold it to me broken, so I had to open it up and replace a bunch of stuff, and I pretty much re did everything excluding the airtank. Anyway, start by taking 1 1/2" PVC for the body of the gun, and cut it to your preferred length, which should be around 2 feet. Then, make a handle out of more 1 1/2" pvc, and secure it to the shell where ever you comfortably fit it. Now, take your dremel and make a large cut across the top of the shell, cutting away a foot long piece of PVC starting about 4 inches away from the front. Save the piece of PVC you have cut away from the shell, as it will be used again later.

The gap in the shell (this pic already has the tank installed, but ignore that for now)

Then, take your airtank, and secure a coupler to it, PVC or CPVC is fine. Next, fit it into the 4 inches you left uncut in the front of the shell. This may require enlarging the airtank for a snug fit, in which I would suggest you hot glue FBR around the tank, until you get that snug fit with the shell your looking for. Once this is done, goop in a piece of vinyl tubing about a foot long. Attach a strong wire a foot and a half long to the firing pin via wrapping it around tightly and applying hotglue. Once those steps are done, the inside of your gun should look like this.

Next, for the stock. Take your un-used 1 1/2" PVC and cut 6 inches from it. Use a dremel and cut out the top quarter of it. Then, glue it to the back of your gun, behind the handle. It should look like this.

Posted Image

Dremel out a space for tubing in the stock you have created, till it looks like this.

Posted Image

Then, take the pump your using, and wrap FBR around it (glued down) so it to will fit snugly in the shell.

Posted Image

Insert it in the back of your shell, and line up the tubing like so.

Posted Image

Drill a hole at the start of your stock, and feed the tubing from the pump through it. This should bring the tubing up to the tubing from the tank, with a good bit of room left over.

Connect your tubing using a two way connection (can be ordered from mcmasters). Keep in mind, your should have enough slack in your tubing to do this so that the connection is airtight and your not pulling at the tubing to make them meet.

Posted Image

To get out all the slack in the tubing once they have been connected, pull back on the tubing from the pump that was thread through the whole behind the handle.

Posted Image

Hotglue the tubing down in the shell, so it is secure.

Posted Image

Then, drill a whole through the end of your pump handel large enough to feed a brass or aluminum bar though.

Posted Image

Take a piece of 2" PVC and shape it like so. It should be around 10 inches long. Then, drill wholes through the end of that as well.

Posted Image

Fully extend your pump handle, and mark when it reaches of the outside of the shell. Then, push it in as fas as it goes in the pump, and mark where that is on the shell. Cut a slit about an inch wide connecting these two areas on both sides of the shell. This is to let a bar connect the pump to the fore grip (that's right, a fore grip pump) you made out of the 2" pvc. Now, slide the fore grip over the shell and run a metal bar through the end of the fore grip, passing through the pump, and meeting at the other end of the fore grip. Congratulations, you now have a fore griping pump system.

Posted Image

Drill a whole right in front of the handle and feed the wire through that you had attached to your firing pin, and fix a keyring to it. Test that everything works, (pump the gun, check for leaks, then release the air). IF everything functions smoothly, then take the fore grip off, and take the piece you had cut out of the top of the shell.

Posted Image

Glue it back into it's original position, and sand where it was glued, so it's smooth. That way, it won't interfere with the movement of the fore grip.

Posted Image

Re attach the fore grip, and your done! I went on to paint mine, but that's just me. The finished product.

As I said, I used an At3k, with an SM3k pump (cause the at3k pump was leaking), so my ranges are high 80's, low 90's. Hope you enjoyed!

I like the Idea. The stock looks very uncomfortable. But good job with the fore grip. How many time do you pump it though? And I would like to know if you want to sell anytime soon?..

It will not be for sale. The stock is actually quite comfy, cause the pump and tubing sits flush with the PVC. I'd give the gun a 9.5 out of 10 for comfort. Mine takes 5 pumps to slightly overcharge the tank, achieving the greatest ranges it can without breaking.

It looks really cool. I saw the video on YoutTube for it and immediatley fell in love with it. Nice job! I would definitely build this if I had the parts. Did you encounter any leaks when you were making it, particularly with the tubing?

So you combined two guns and made it pump action? Meh... pretty cool. If this goes on for four pages I'm going to kill myself.

I honestly don't see what's extensively great about it, I like pump action, but we already have that with the 2k and the 3k. Plus a sm1500 already gets better than those kinds of ranges. Nerveless, good job on it, for what it is you did it pretty well.

Damn it Foamfoot. Why is it that you kill every good topic with a retarded response a few days late.

Its nice how the tanks fit in the pvc. I also discovered that a at2k tan fits in a titan barrel perfectly.

I'm with foamfoot when I say I think the pump action idea for an air weapon is amazing. It's not really seen that often though which is sad because after using an AT3K and AT2K I can easily say it's easier to grip in a shotgun pump style.

Well I think it's fucking sweet, considering I built it!

Connor: It depends how big your pump is and how big you cut the PVC to let the pump move. I didn't cut the PVC enough for the pump to extend fully, so it required one or two more pumps than it did before I installed it in the shell.

Foamfoot: The purpose (when I built it) was to make a extremely comfortable shell, which I did. And the pump handle is in a much more natural location to be able to pump it faster. I actually built it because my AT3K shell completely cracked. I liked the power of the tank, so I built this around it.

Ice: Nice write-up. But, I put the second piece of PVC on the stock to hide the tubing, can I ask why you didn't put it in there? The tubing seems so venerable on the outside!

I think I'm going to build another one of these with a breech system. I'm also trying to think of a trigger design to make it a bullpup. If you have any ideas on that, PM me because you know how the gun works already.

On the other hand, the guy who posted before me used the word 'fuck' a lot so he probably knows what he's talking about.
