Hey people of Nerfhaven, I have another question about my gun. I band my NF because I fell like I need more ranges. Recently, a friend of mine said that banding will weaken my plunger rod. Is this true? Also, if this has been disccused somewhere just give me the link and let this thread die please (Yes, I searched about this).

Well, I'm going to sound like a jack*** but you could have got inferior ranges over the time and not notice. What I really mean is is there really a specific reason why the plunger would weaken in any way ( if the claim was true)?

PS: Not to backseat moderate, but please work on your capitalization.

If you put bands on the gun, the plastic will be stressed. When there's just a spring, all the tension is on the plungerhead and the screw, but when you add bands the plunger rod normally bends on way or another, and will eventually get deformed if you have strong enough bands and leave them on long enough. You should be fine if you remove the bands after your done using it or you could do this

As long as the place the bands attach to on the shell is close to perfectly horizontally across from where the attach to the plunger, then you will be fine.

Well for my old NF, I had over 14 basic elastic bands on it. so the easiest answer to keep the bands from bending the plunger rod, was to interlace the bands. As one around the right, then the left, then right, then around the left and etc.

but from my experience, there is more kickback from using that many bands, like my NF was as strong as Deaddumpster's NF (spring addition) but mine kicked like a bitch.
