im 14 and i have started to get into nerf. i have a good collection so far but its mostly pistols

heres what i have
TechTarget Pistol
Diskshot Pistol
Maverick Pistol
2 Strikefire Dartag pistols(orange & green)
Firefly(my fav)
Recon CS-6

since im 14 and dont have alot of money i only get a few guns a year, hopefully i 'll get some before my birthday this year

any tips on guns to get for a newbie nerfer,and just other tips

There is no best gun. If you only have pistols you should complete your collection with a nitefinder. It's the easiest to get and has good modding capabilities.

Use your own judgment. Just buy what guns look good to you (unless it's either of the Tommy 20 guns, those look cool but they suck). If you're contemplating buying a gun, research it to see how durable, powerful, or comfortable it is to help you decide.

Pistol Splat.

Maybe a PAS. Or a SNAP. Or a good ol' Air Tech 2000. If you're wanting to actually nerf, get something basic, go to a war, see how it goes, then build something that suits you. You don't need a tricked-out Angel breeched LS to shoot people effectively.

Get a Big Bad Bow and Big Bad Sexy it. You will get great ranges, and a BBB is about 20$ CA or 15$ in Us maybe. Big Bad Sexy by Josey.

A lot of people don't seem to get this- It's not the gun, it's how you use it.
At the Thanksgiving war in Mill Creek last month, I believe it was xeorogue and zach attack, (I could be wrong) got ambushed by me while VACC set-up the bait by whistling and revealing our location. And I was using an RF 20. Outdoors. You know how amazing that feels? Getting a trick shot on 2 unsuspecting nerfers? Rork said it best, find something that suits your play style. If you're a fast runner, you really don't need anything else but an NF. If you like laughing maniacally while piling foam into people's faces, try a Magstrike.

But the SNAPbow is fine machine. Just don't treat it roughly, mines starting to get a bit damaged, from dry fires.

But my personal is the Maverick- Because this is the best Nerf gun ever made. The Nerf Maverick. Six darts. More than enough to hit anything that moves. *fancy gun twirling* *Takes out another for more fancy gun twirling* *Takes out a third and starts juggling them, accidently dry firing into someone's eye*

but yeah i really cant mod,im also incredibly scared to due to what happend when i was trying to mod the internals of my recon. i took the screws out then took top of the shell and all the internals shot out,springs,trigger and everything,i gave up on it for like 3 monthes then just yesetrday, i rebuilt it and it works great now. so i really dont wanna mod,they shoot good for me now anyways

Do you Nerf indoor's or out. I just had an indoor war yesterday and did great with a LS but then ran out of ammo. My sugestion is a longshot and a Night finder.

i have a had a 1 on 1 indoor war with my bro and used a recon and i did alright

Apparently, thats only a nerf conflict. You need to make it more people to really NEED a certain gun or combo.

my mom said this summer she would have me meet up with this girls kid my mom works with. my mom said he's the same age and were both into nerf. then i said if we get a 4 more people we can have a 3 on 3 nerf war up at the local park. i would love that

but i have tested combos and found the recon and tech target work great together

There is never going to be the perfect gun. There is only guns perfect for you! A perfect gun would need everyone to say that and no one is going to agree on that! MY personal favorite though is the recon and Nite Finder. I like the recon cause its long range if modded also its small and compacticle and is fast. Sorta jams but still my fav. THe nite finder is a quick load with long range

Anyway, as other people have said, there is no best, gun, it's all about what suits you, yadda yadda yadda. If you want power, then the Big Bad Bow is a great gun to start out with, it's not very complicated, and a simple barrel replacement can get around 70 feet if I'm not mistaken. It's pretty accurate too. But when you're new to this, don't try to mod complicated guns. i.e., the Longshot, Recon, Vulcan. Try things like a Tech Target, NiteFinder, but mainly things that aren't very expensive.

Uhm... personally I find the Recon is extrmely simple to Mod. The insides are easy to put back together and not complicated at all. But that's just my opinion.

Anyways, again; find a gun that you love and work with so it's absolutely 100% yours. I personally haven't found my style of play yet, and need to keep searching.

As for modding, work with what you have and get good with it before moving on. You'll have mistakes, and a couple of guns will probably be ripped apart and put into your ever-growing "Extra-Parts Container"; thats just inevitable.
