I have seen other 2k turreted guns on the site but there is always an issue of a lot of dead space because of the placement of the turret post and spring. This mod could easily be adapted to many other guns but for the sake of simplicity I chose a nitefinder.

Parts: (kind of vague, sorry)
Nitefinder
at2k turret
1/4" plastic rod (or pipe)
spring that will fit snuggly around 1/4" rod
Small washer that will fit snuggly around 1/4" rod

Start by disassembling the nitefinder and removing the lazer bits inside. Remove and take apart the entire plunger and AR.

Remove the AR post.

And cut out this part of the AR

Start by prying off the orange end piece shown on the left side of the photo. The spring holds the two parts of the turrets together to create a seal.
Posted Image

Remove the original barrels and center post of the turret. Now drill through the top part of the turret using a 15/64" bit. Then drill through the orange piece you removed earlier with the same bit and cut off the collar.

On the base plate of the turret there is a nub right in the middle, cut that down just enough to allow the now de-posted post piece to fit around the nub at the top of the plate. Its important to not just cut the whole nub off because you will need the surface area it will provide later in the mod.

Now start to reassemble the AR and plunger tube how it was before.
Posted Image Posted Image

Take the 1/4" plastic tubing or rod and cut one end to fit in the turret base plate with the NF air restricter. It will look something like this.
Posted Image

Epoxy the AR parts, turret base plate and 1/4" rod together. (make sure to sand all connecting surfaces) When the epoxy is dried assemble onto the 1/4" rod and base plate everything in this order: turret top piece, small washer, spring, and orange cap. Superglue the orange cap onto the rod making sure that the spring is putting pressure on the turret when the glue has set.
Posted Image

Epoxy assembly from the previous step onto the plunger tube. Cut the shell to fit and put it back together. Add your barrels of choice and it should look something like this.

I didn't do any internal mods to the nitefinder so I'm getting standard nitefinder with ARs removed ranges.

Congratulations, you just made the 2k turret into the way it should've been made in the first place; with the FRONT being pushed BACK.

If I wasn't a lazy ass I'd turn around and start doing this to all of my turreted guns, but I don't care enough, and 85-90' out of a turreted splitfire isn't worth the effort to improve. But props nonetheless. Now you just need to turn around and buy 20 more turrets, invert them, and put them on anything that moves. Including the neighbor's cat, and your family christmas tree.

Wow, the first person to reply to a turreted nitefinder is Falcon...how surprising.
Anyways, that looks really clean, great job!

Very clean. I really like how you did this mod. I have also seen a lot of turreted nitefinders, but this is way easier on the eyes not to mention, your elimination of the dead space makes this very practical comparing to previous mods. Good job.

Only Falcon.

Awesome turret. So, the spring is on backwards so it pushes the turret into the gun correct?

I think this new design will help people making homemade versions that look good and you don't have to pulll the barrel out of the coupler roate and put a new barrel in the turret. I personaly plan to use this on my next project which will have a homemade turret.

Only falcon would but such a orniment on his Christmas tree. But this is very interesting take on the other turreted Nitefinders I have seen. Nice work.

I frankly disagree, sir!
Though I will admit it isn't a 2k turret, I did put a SSPB on my Christmas tree a few weeks ago.

EDIT: Oh, by the way, brilliant mod. I really like how you eliminated almost all dead space.

Thanks everyone, this is my first write up and it was more difficult than I expected. I hope it all makes sense and if you have questions ask and I'll try to elaborate.

At Busta: yes that is correct.

I wish that you could use more of the stock parts to do this mod but the metal peg that normally holds the spring is too short and I think that the size of hole you would need to drill in the top of the turret would cut away too much of the teeth that lock each barrel in place.

Damn it Foamfoot. Why is it that you kill every good topic with a retarded response a few days late.

Really good mod, I say your barrel is clean and useful, I suppose? Also, is the ROF better? I mean does the barrel rotate? Sorry I don't have a 2k barrel, so I wouldn't know.

Yeah, the 2k barrels rotate. Whole point is a higher ROF while maintaining ranges as much as possible.

Well that is REALLY cool. Awesome man, it's so simple yet it works like a beauty. Maybe, if you improve it even more, this might be in the Modifications directory.
