Welcome to I-dont-care-isburg, population: me.
We're located in I-Don't-Give-a-Damn County, in scenic Shut-the-Hell-Up-achussets.
Maybe you're familiar with our annual charity drive where we ask for shit, and no one gives any.

Well, I haven't studied any of the styles/schools/whatever that most people think of when they hear the words "martial art", but since a martial art is defined as any form of combat and/or self defense that is widely practiced as a sport...

I used to practice archery quite a bit. My dad got me started, and I had some light training here and there. Really the only way to get any good though is to practice a lot (and use quality equipment). I used to be fairly proficient, but never took it anywhere. Some day I might get back into it, especially when my kids get a little older. (I think my oldest, an 18-month-old, would have a bit of trouble even with a really light draw weight right now!)

Don't bother me with any of those fancy-schmancy compound bows though. Real men hold their draw with their own strength, and recurves are much prettier anyway.

(Or maybe I just like the curves. Let's see...women...Corvettes...recurve bows...AT2K's...yep - I like curves!)

I'm a second degree black belt in Taekwondo. I got that rank several years ago, but I don't remember the date anymore, and my Black Belt Certificate isn't near my computer, so I'm not going to go find it now. I might be going for my third degree this May or June, depending on whether my schedule permits me to go enough to work towards it or not. I'm also taking special self-defense classes at the Taekwondo school from an instructor who also works with the military, special forces, the FBI, etc., but those classes do not have ranks. They focus primarily upon unarmed defense against an armed attacker.

I'm an honorary black belt because I took down a mugger outside a martial arts studio.

Congrats to all that actually made it, some of us are not so fortunate as to run into muggers.

1st degree blackbelt in Taekwondo on Novmeber 4th 2005/6. Can't remember the year, it's been a while. I had to quit recently, due to my mom getting a job and us having no time. It sucks too, I was getting close to earning my second degree.

I don't consider Eskrima/Arnis de Mano/Kali as a Martial Art. Martial Arts are forms of combat widely practiced as a sport. Eskrima is in NO way a sport. It is a way of self-defense. You don't see people at Eskrima Competitions wackin' away at each other with plastic swords, daggers, and staffs because people who practice Eskrima practice to kill. It's not necessarily militaristic either. It's not only practiced by soldiers in the Philippine military but by civilians who wish to be ready if they are ever under attack.

I get what you mean and Our definitions Might be different in the term of martial art so I won't argue. I meant Militaristic as in self defence as you stated and I AM practicing to kill, just not on real people at the moment JKing.
