Ive been looking up some Clear PVC pipes because I am going to need them (who doesn't like clear) and itll be a sorta jokish project if you guys can think of it hard enough xD...

As you read this page you'll notice the price for these pipes! [size=7]they are amazingly low. [size=2] which you gotta admit it is! buuut some peopl (like myself) don't know how the price is ranged per foot... all does is say i.e. $00.45 for whatever pipe you want but it says Qty: 50 = 5% off, 100 = 10% off ,300 = 15%
So here I am thinking... [size=7]DAAAAYYYYYUUUMMMM!!![size=2] for something such as $12.50 for 300 ft of CLEAR PVC!

can anyone here figure out the pricing system of these said pipes?

The list price is per foot. So multiply that price by as many feet as you want. You'd have to buy 50 feet to get 5% off the cost. The pricing on the page you linked is pretty much in line with what McMaster charges.

really? hmm i never even bothered to look at mcmaster's... which one has better shipping? this site ships 8' but any bigger than that must be carried through frieght train... another thing... does CLEAR PVC get tarnished or stained any way from being shipped? you know how the floors or transportation vehicles are all groady and sandy? does that like make the surface of the pipe smudge with black or leave noticable sctraches?

To give you an example of how their pricing works

1/2" Clear Rigid PVC Pipe is 1.48 per foot.

They will only sell it to you in 10 foot sections. So for each 10' pipe it would be $14.80

If you were to order 50 feet worth it would be $74 minus 5% for a total of $70.30

If you were to order 100 feet it would be $148 minus 10% for a total of 133.20

If you were to order 300 feet it would be $444 minus 15% for a total of $377.40

Note that none of these figures include shipping, which for 300 feet worth of piping is going to be expensive.

In my opinion you are better off just buying it at the store or privately.

Edit rather than double post: They specifically say that they are willing to ship via different methods if you don't mind the pipes being cut.

Anyone willing to go half in on 10ft of 1 1/4th clear PVC? Imagine how much better that would be for SNAPs. I'm getting giddy just thinking about it.

Wow, clear PVC? Do you guy's think this may be better then PETG. I don't thin the clear pvc wll be anything like regular pvc, 'cause it's thinner?

Nope. Way, way more expensive than PETG. Doesn't have the right dimensions to fire micro stefans. Same exact sizes of regular PVC. Why would you think its thinner?

It would be fairly cool to nest PETG into that, make it look like thick PETG...Still really friggin expensive though.

Oh, and, I didn't say it was thinner, I asked if it was.

Why? It would be amazing as a Pressure chamber in a SNAP. I am a bit tired of having to do a complete take apart of a gun to see if its all working, and this would save so much time + look really cool.

I was actually thinking of something for quick visual checks of barrels with PETG, but Im not sure if its been done before (I know PETG is clear, but not when its nested in PVC)

It would be cool because you're not looking at a simple white barrel, when in reality you're looking at 2 barrels but ressemble a clear effect. Your opinion I guess..

Well, if you use megas and petg isn't available in your area other than from OMC, this is an OK find.

Due to the ridiculous length limit, the cheapest way to get clear PVC is through eBay. I've seen a good amount of it go through and it's worth the months long wait for the specific size you might need.

With that being said, the only reason I've been looking into clear PVC was for a non-Nerf project. I don't think clear PVC is a replacement for any barrel material. PETG is much cheaper if you want clear. It might make a cool plunger tube if you want to stick to PVC parts, but compared against clear polycarbonate tubing, it's also significantly more expensive.

in my experience clear pvc has slightly thicker walls than its whiteboy brethren.

keep that in mind

Get some tap acrylic, it's like $4 for 10 feet. The only downside is that it's really brittle, but in my experience, it can load megas easier, and never makes a wermp sound with taggers or sonics in high powered guns like my big blast. It has a smaller plastic thickness (OD?) but the inner part (ID?) is bigger than pvc, so you do have to wrap tape around the ends to make it fit in a coupler or bushing.

Or you could buy polycarbonate or even polyester thick-wall tubing and end up with something that's much more durable.

For future reference: would thick (1/8" wall) polyester be strong/durable enough to use as a plunger tube in a SNAP type design? I would think that clear PVC would be so soft that it would turn into an unattractive mass of scratches in fairly short order. I realize that this would not be cost effective, but then again, that's hardly the point...

It would depend on how its ends are attached to the rest of the blaster. You'll want to use a minimum of four screws at each end.
