Some of the MN Vets told me about a guy who once brought a gun like this to war. It was intimidating as hell and shot 100+ feet so I reccomend you go through with building this. I am eager to see the end result so good luck.

Okay I'll begin to build this by Saturday... the reason being... I need to figure out what sized of piping I will need, some bonding agents as well, screws and bolts and so on.

Approved by me. I was already thinking about doing something like this. :( The one thing that worries me is the bungie cord. After awhile I think it would structurely damage the PVC and start cracking it..

For the bungee cords, you could also use Mcmaster part 5234K962 (latex tubing). It works really well on a catapult I built and is very stretchy.

Isn't that the reason they have THICK walled PVC? xD I mean the darts that I smith have the OD to fit the ID of 1/2 THICK walled PVC (fits perfectly!!)

Yeah, I was there on that fateful day when the 'Hunter' arrived. It was actually just a well modified NERF Bow'N Arrow. It had some intense bungees on it and with the size of the compression tube, it got amazing ranges.

I distinctly remember terrorizing the opposing team with my SM1500, mostly charging into about 80' away, firing, hitting, then retreating. I had better range than most people there and was having a lot of fun. Then the 'Hunter' (clad in a leather vest, nonetheless...yeah, no sleeves) took up my trail. I saw him coming and I slowly jogged back toward my team, maintaining a "safe" distance of around 90'. I wasn't retreating too quickly, thinking that even if the blaster could fire that far, there was no way the shot would be accurate.

'THWAP!' followed by an 'AHH!' He hit me right between the shoulder blades. My guess is that the thing could hit around 125' flat. I never underestimated that guy with that bow again. The reload time wasn't great, but I think "intimidating" is a fitting description.

Onyx, go ahead with the plans, but forget about the shotgun style loading thing and just go with a good flip breach, or some other very simple breech. I would go clipless on this one if I were you. If you need to use a clip, I'd recommend an RSCB/inline clip system.

Sure by all means do it, i was thinking of homemade bow and arrow ideas since my friend got the orginal at value village the other day, I probably will build this without a trigger to keep authenticity to the original bow and arrow.

Haha well the real reason the trigger is there is so you can load the gun without having to use the other hand to hold the plunger back in place xD

I tried this with a real bow. The main problem is that the bow doesn't have enough power at the start of the release, so air isn't being forced out very quickly by the time the dart leaves the barrel.

Full foot PETG barrel.

Unable to fire tight darts.

Loose darts- 20'

Hopefully you have more luck.

Wait, I just realized something. Are you planning on attaching the bungees to the ends of the bow arms?

One word of advice: DON'T! That's way too much force for it to handle. I thought they were just for cosmetic purposes; I didn't look too closely. You'll want to attach your bungees close to the center as there is no way the arms won't break off or bend to the point of being unusable. The bow design is meant for flexible materials that spring back. The string itself does not have very much elasticity. It is the potential energy stored in the stretched bow, not the string, that launches an arrow. In this case, you will be using the "string" to launch the dart and so there is no reason to attach the string to the end of the arms.

Save yourself some trouble and keep it attached close to the plunger tube.

Oh well, that would make sense, I might just have to make some real sort of stefan arrow that can be loaded from the front...this is going to be fun!

I thought about building something quite like this. Although I never actually got around to making it. It was just sort of a concept in my head.
