I am looking at making a shotgun that will fire 8 darts simultaneously. I war inside and want it for clearing corridors. I don't need huge range, 40'-50' would more than surfice as that is more than the length of most of the rooms. Spring is preferable due to faster reload times. So, the larger snap variants come to mind as an ideal solution as they have a large plunger and put out a large volume of air (someone quoted 25ci). Is that sufficient air to push 8 darts 50'? If not, would any other spring based homemade be better?

I can make the shotgun head and adaptors etc with ease

Before anyone says "try it and see", I live in Australia and materials are very hard to come by so I don't want to throw a whole load of difficult to obtain resources into what could potentially be a project doomed from the start.

Thanks,

Wesp

Wait, are you asking if someone else can design/make this thing for you to then buy off of them?

Edit: I dunno of any springer that can do what your asking. Maybe 2 or 3 barrels but not 8. I might look into using a Titan or BBBB if I were you, but you still might not even be able to achieve 8 barrels at 50 feet with those guns.

Parts can't be THAT hard to come by.
Just go to Bunnings or Mitre 10, as for springs, try National Parts fasteners division or any other industry supplier who specialises in fasteners etc. I have not personally bought springs from them yet, but I am very sure they stock all types of springs.

Don't know much about homemades, but-
The only way I know of effectively shot gunning a SNAPbow would to literally shotgun load it, as in putting 2 darts in the front of the barrel. A slight decrease in range, maybe 20 ft (That leaves a good 80-90 feet). I'm not sure a SNAPbow can hold an 8 barrel attachment. Even if you can support it on, a PlusBow spring won't launch 8 darts at a range of 50 ft. Maybe 20 ft (to my knowledge), but not 50. Titans work well, and if you're planning on sweeping a corridor, reload time shouldn't really matter, if you can wipe out everyone in the area. A Scatter Titan would be great, you just have to route tubings to connect to the holes in the back of a Fire Fly turret to make it 8-shot. And some big PVC.

Also, maybe a banded PC could work.

I'm not sure if you have your heart set on a homemade, but, a BBBB with a scatter cannon fills your queue. Though I'm not certain of their availability in Austrailia.

A SNAP might work with a scatter cannon as well. Don't hold me to that, I haven't tested it.

So basically any high air output gun with a scatter cannon would work.

I lubed it again and again, I don't see what an extra 2 centimeters does. I don't think I will cut it off.

I intend on making it myself, i just wanted to see if it was feasible before I start hunting round for parts etc.

@ The inventor guy, the local hardware and plumbing stores sell very few pvc sizes and those they do sell are often 3-4mm from what is advertised. Getting my hands on materials for sounds like would have been a failed project would have sucked

So from what I gather, a springer won't shift the air volume required to launch that many darts?

the BBBB isn't available that I have seen. My local toys r us has the titan but it is $80. Plus a homemade is more fun.

Eight darts might be pushing it as far as a shotgun load on a Big SNAP. I recall seeing a mod along the lines of what you're looking for, but it was on a Titan...quite a bit more air than a large chamber SNAP can provide. I think that four barrels might be more feasable. However, it's not something I've ever worked with, because multi-barrel setups have erratic performance with stefans (because of dart irregularity). Stock darts would probably fare better. Or, do what Echnalaid said...two barrels, four darts in each. If the darts weren't incredibly tight, it should work.

I'm so exited this came up. :D I am currently making a pump action shotgun homemade that I will post up in a while. It's about 50 percent complete. I have made the pump action part (power of a snap) and the way you cock it is via a handle underneath the snap, which you slide backwards to cock it, then forwards to load the breech. I have designed the breech but have yet to build it. Everything else is complete. I will probably post a writeup if possible.

8 is just too much. We had a guy at DCNO who used a plugged titan with an 8 shot attachment for the whole round. He got beaten pretty badly. The spread is minimal if you use an attachment like that (I could be wrong here; I've only seen about 3), but shotgun loading is a much better alternative. Your barrels are lighter and reload faster, and it has just the right amount of spread. You can also adjust the amount of darts on the fly to increase or decrease range (and decrease or increase spread respectively of course). Anyway, the original point was that there's not too many blasters that can push 8 darts 50'. The titan was getting about 40 max.
