Wildfire's and Rapid Fire 20s are waaaay better. I don't know why people like one shot weapons. You fire once, it hits my wildfire since it is huge and then I put you down. Just doesn't make sense.

Also, is the rapid fire 20 significantly better than the wildfire? If so, how?

Well, we would shoot you from about 100 feet while your rapid fire 20 gets about 20 feet on a good day. If that doesn't work we take you out from 50 feet with our lock 'n' loads. Savvy?

That may be true, but, if you fire your twenty darts out of your Wildfire or RF20, you're completely helpless. It's much easier, quicker, and more ammo-efficient to reload and use a one shot weapon than it is an automatic.

You may be okay in a close range war, but once you fire all your darts, you are totally screwed.

Plus, let's just say with my SM1500, I can put four darts in, pump it twice, and fire all four of them strategically at the right time. With automatic weapons, you have little (if any) control, and the range isn't very good. Believe me, by the time it would take you to reload twenty darts, and pump the gun forty times, you'd be shot several times.

I should clarify....I do most of my fighting indoors. Even with long hallways and staircases, automatic weapons easily keep you pinned down...

Since it's your first post, I won't bash you much - but let me say my main point:

All those 20 shots of yours are worth absolutely shit if you're taken down at 80 feet away. Likewise, the one shot is absolutely shit if it misses you...but that person with the Xbow or BBB usually has a chance at one or two more shots.

I don't know of alot of people that don't integrate something in their Xbows or BBB's to compensate for the one, long range shot. It's not like we're in the civil war here, it doesn't take 3 minutes to reload and fire once. Especially with a breech loading Xbow or BBB.

It also depends on the game you're playing. I don't know how you play, but most East / West Coast variants play so that gun hits count, unless you have a Manta Ray or something (which is extremely unlikely). Come to any of the large wars - and I'm willing to bet your big ass WF will get hit quite a bit if you swing it out infront of you to block.

Like Grinch said, the time it takes to prime and shoot off 20 rounds from a RF20 or WF is going to allow them plenty of time to shoot at you. Even if you do manage to get into close quarters, I know of very few people who use a modded Xbow / BBB and don't take a sidearm.

Well...If you dont like BBB's or xbows i can give you a powerclip for yours ;) .

But seriosley, automatic guns are better for indoor wars and speed ball. But high-powered, long range weapons are usually better for outdoor wars.

Perfectly stated, and since most of us here Nerf outdoors over 90% of the time, I believe G.I. Nerf can go to MUTHA-FUCKIN HELL!!!

At any rate, a properly modded PC is better than either of the 20-shots. IMO more accurate, and much faster to reload.

Who can hit someone from 100 feet out here? I'm not good at estimating distances, but I dont think I've ever seen someone even get lucky enough to nail someone from more than 80 feet.

And rapid fire weapons are cool too.

What mantis said was true. It is very hard to hit a target from 100 feet away. and if they're moving then just forget about it. but on the other hand i used to have a wildfire until it broke why would you have to pump it 40 times just to fire off 20 bullets. I think that the best guns are the SmK1500, Blastfire, etc. Since they are semi automatic and have a good rounds per minute average it's the best of bothe worlds.

In other words... Semi's beat fully automatic and losing weapons.

Semi automatic means each pull of the trigger shoots one round. Sm1500 is not semi automatic because you must prime and manually rotate the barrel each shot. I only have one true semi auto dart gun, which is a 10clip lightstorm. You can fire a PC semi, but its classified as an auto.

Welcome to Nerf Haven. Anyways, to answer this question, I will say that the RF20 takes a shorter amount of time to pump to full pressure, and has an optional single-shot function that is good for people with itchy trigger fingers. However, it doesn't have a strap or pressure-gauge, I think... It mostly comes down to your personal preference on the matter.

Lesse. I only use a RF20 because I was thought I needed it. A lot. Before that, my only weapons were a SM750 and a singled AT3K. I wanted a way to protect myself as I reloaded, and I wanted something to compensate for my single-shot, long range weapons.

But who really cares? If you wanna eat shit, use a crossbow or a BBB or somethin'. If you wanna rush, use an auto. Or, if you don't give a fuck, use whatever weapon best suits you.

GINerf, given that you fight indoors in your parents house, the RF20 is a perfectly good weapon for you to use, especially if you can use the automatic fire to pin down the opposition in a corner

As others have said out doors long range weapons are more desireable. The higher power makes it more difficult to avoid the shots. The RF20 in an open area is usually easy to dodge because the rounds are comming in at a lower velocity and lack range. Using automatics against a higherpowered single shot weapon means you need to be able to close distance fast and run down your opponent, where with a long range gun you don't need to do this.

A Rapid Fire gun is great if you're on a large team that works together well and you can really take advantage of the tactics involved in having an RF gun. Otherwise, it isn't really worth it, unless you're playing some kind of attack-defend mission kind of thing where the defenders can't really move around.

In reguard to unloading all 20 darts and then being screwed, when are you going to do that? If you're close enough to be effective, you should be able to squeeze off voleys of five or six darts and hit what you want to hit, so you should have four good voleys of darts per priming, and you can prime without spending them all.

Comparing the RF 20 and the Wildfire, I am under the impression that the wildfire was alot more prone to leaks. Also, if you look in the right places, you should be able to get a RF NiB in most stores, whereas the wildfire is only going to show up at yardsales and e-bay.

Personally I think both long range one shot guns and short range multi shot guns have their places in a war. The long range obviously is great for picking off opponents from a distance while rapid fire guns will give you a better chance to hit them (at close enough range). Both guns have their good points and bad. Rapid fire weapons good:you get a good couple of chances to hit the guy before you miss them. bad: hard to reload. Long range good:pick off enemy from distance. bad: If you miss and they see you they can either escape you or rush you. But I would like to point out to the many people who say rapid fire's are to hard to reload. Let's think about it for a second, how many people do you know who go to a war with ONE FREAKIN RAPID FIRE GUN?!?!?! chances are they'll have some sort of sidearm to keep an enemy away while they reload. And if you rush a guy who shot at you from a hundered feet and he tries to pick you off at fifty with an LnL, what if you miss that one shot? then you may be screwed. But what if you get hit from a hundered feet without even seeing the attacker? then you too may be screwed. My point is that both these guns have their places in wars, and can sometimes make good combinations, it's pointless to try to say which is better because they both have advantages and disadvantges. Personally i prefer rapid fire but i'm not going to say long range' suck, because like i've said far to much in this post both guns have their place.

If they're moving then just forget about it.

Ok. I have been sprinting to the point of a cramp, and Ray shoots me with his Crossbow right in my chest. That guy can hit a moving target at like 50 ft no problem. I think just about any of the Yano/Lano participants can vouche for that one. But yea, hitting a moving target at 100 ft is pretty fucking hard. But get within 60 and you're hatin' it.

Personally, I like my Uruk-Hai crossbow with the nite finder for a side arm.
