I own two AT2K's and have seen the internals of an AT3K. The air tanks appeared to be the same size.

1. Are they the same size?
2. What is the benifit of getting an AT3K instead of a AT2K?
3. How many pumps are required for an AT3K?

Thanks.

EDIT: One more question, does anyone know it they still make the Air Tech 1000 and 4000?

1. At3k tank seems slightly larger.
2. Longer ranges, more comfortable to hold in my opinion.
3. 3 pumps w/wo plugged pump.

I got my 4k from a friend who found it at a garage sale for $5.

1. The AT3K has a sightly larger tank size.
2. The AT3K has more barrels on it's turret. But the AT2K is allot easier to integrate into other guns.
3. The AT3K can take about four pumps. But if you do this mod then you will only have to do one or two pumps.

Personally if you get an AT3K then you should use it as a primary. If you get an AT2K then you should integrate it into another gun.

I guess you have some heavy duty industrial strength toilet paper holders. Do they advise you to wear eye protection when changing rolls?

My TTG mod.

Like busta said, they still make 1K's. As for 4K's, stores out there sell them, but they're difficult to find. I'd reccomend buying online. Just keep your eyes open.

I'm not sure 3K's get better ranges than 2K's. Has anybody hit 120' with a 3K yet? Or even 100'?

The ONLY advantage an AT3K has over the 2K is the auto-rotating turret (which makes for an inferior seal, so it may not be an advantage) and the number of barrels (and many NERFers feel multiple barrels are pointless...I'm not one of those, for the record).

I've not yet been able to a good enough mod on my 3K's to cause me to prefer them over (or even think of them as equal to) my AT2K's.

That's not true. At a big war, most people will use a 2K over a 3K, because it has better range, and is much more reliable. I have seen probably 5 people use 2K's as primaries before I see 1 person use a 3K as a primary.

And yes, AT1K's show up at stores like Big Lots occasionally. I found one at a store called "The Christmas Tree Shop" near my house, but it sucks.

In the words of keef: " IF I hear one more time that someone gets 100ft out of an AT3K, I will beat a baby with a broken crossbow".
I hit 110 consistently with my TURRETED 2k that has the airflow mod and tank extension. 3Ks will never hit 100ft. At HbH, I was using a 2k, and Rixon was using a 3k. I was outshooting him everytime. At the end I was using some ass darts to try to hit a garbage can 100ft or so away. I could hit it with my 2k, but not the 3k.
The 2k tank is smaller, but releases air faster, making for higher range. 2ks are BY FAR the best guns in the airtech line.

Sounds like it was better that I picked up the 2K's and not the 3K's.

I get around 110' with my singled 2K

Mine might get 120'. I don't have exact measurements, but I can hit a target 100' feet away with little dart drop.

http://nerfhaven.com...topic=13011&hl=

On the thread, I conservatively guesstimated 100 +/- 10 feet. Of course, as usual, the way I did it is as good as cheating because I put did a tank expansion and put on a better pump.

I have both, and the reason for AT2k's having longer ranges than their 3k counterparts is this:

the 3k has a larger tank, but not much larger than a 2k. But, the 2K has a larger release valve. So the 2k releases the air faster. On top of that, it has a better seal. All of that translates into better ranges.

Then good job! That earns some respect.

My point was have you ever used the 3K in a war? I've found it doesn't usually hold up well against it's counterparts (the AT2K mainly).

Mine holds up great. Kicks the hell out of biofreak2's AT2K. Then again, I'm awesome. Results may vary, I guess.

I've gotten over 100 flat (but not 120) with a couple of SM3Ks, so it should be possible with AT3Ks - the tanks appear to be dimensionally identical. Now that I have a pile of AT3Ks from WalMart, I might try the same mods.

Are you getting over100' flat with your SM3K turreted or did you single it?
Also, I don't know if I have some sort of freak AT3K but the valve is at least as large as the AT2K (after my flow rate mod) if not a little bigger, but I'm pretty sure they're the exact same size.

So why does the AT3K suck at ranges? Two main problems:
1) PRESSURE: The slide style pump makes it more difficult to get it up to higher pressure, so even though the internals can handle more pressure, the pump's not delivering that pressure. This is why a mere pump replacement on a 3K seems to improve range so much.
2) TURRET SEAL: It sucks, badly. I've thought about putting an o-ring and stronger spring between the tank stem and the turret, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. The turret does seriously limit air output.

Solve those two problems, and you'll have an incredible blaster on your hands.

That is exactly what my mod addresses. Singling it and replacing the pump is all that needs to be done to get +100ft ranges.

EDIT: Saying "all" implies that it isn't that much work, but in reality does require a bit of effort.

Dude you promised sooooo much stuff, and you haven't really put out anything other than an unfinished "how to manipulate that thing that we all destroy" article.

Oh, and dart fit determines barrel length.

JustSomeBob, I'm very interested in what you've done with the SM3K. I'm working on a project right now involving an SM3K and I would appreciate any information you have, especially pertaining to tightening the turret. How'd you do that?

About the turret thing, it reminds me of the FireFly in that it has a shitty-ass seal with the turret. A turret that has a nub of brass 1/64" smaller(17/32 in 9/16s) than the barrel(s) attached to the turret, pulled out, rotated, then reseated on the nub, with some E-tape on it for a better seal.

And about the ranges:

I SWEAR TO GOD, IF I HEAR ONE MORE PERSON SAY THEY GOT 100' FROM AN AT3K, I WILL BEAT THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF THEM!!! And look at the first post I made for this topic for the tank differences.

I will............................................................................................................................
........................................................................................................................................... Hey!

Look man, before I typed that, my GF broke up with me, and I was pissed to begin with because my cousin detonated my AT3K tank also. So lay off. And also, I have had 10 AT3Ks in the past, and none hit 100' turreted. And people say that their AT3K hits 120' turreted. For all past mods that claim that, I call BS. Note I didn't say for ALL mods because someone will pull it off eventually. So I kinda lost it, and that got into my posts, sorry. But seriously, no way can an AT3K pull 100' flat. Until someone proves me wrong, I say nope.
