About how long of barrel of PETG should I use for an SS2? No one in the mod directory has used PETG. Also, is too tight or too lost of a fit better for a plusbow

Tight, as its a springer. Spring guns deliver air slower, so you want it to be able to build up. However, you want it just tight enough to not move once its in the barrel unless you push it. You shouldn't be able to turn your barrel and have the dart fall out.

Air guns however, you want either a perfect fit, or a slightly looser fit, as it delivers air faster and will push the dart more evenly, giving you more consistent ranges, accuracy and other benefits.

I know about the tight for springers but my cpvc is really tight on my darts and with my PETG, it has a perfect airgun fit but I wasn't sure how it would be with springers

If you can find brass anywhere (ACE, hobby shops, online, or true value I think) then bring a dart with you and see what a good fit would be.

You could always use a nested brass barrel. Just use your PETG with an inch of 17/32" stuck in the back. It takes a lot of dremeling though...

17/32 fits in PETG like it 9/16 Brass.

For your SS2 are you looking for range, accuracy, or mobility?

With an 8" barrel, you could still get great range, but the most I'd use for a SS2 is 15 inches of a slightly loose barrel.

I will say that OMC's PETG slots into the SS2's barrel very firmly without any modification - like it was meant to be.

On my SS2 I use a foot of PETG. At 20 pumps the foam accelerated so fast, and because the weight has more inertia than the foam, that the weight ended up in the middle of the dart! Yes I know, I took a rare gun meant to go to about 12 at the highest, to 20 pumps. It was the fucking best risky choice I've ever made. I've range tested on my street before and so I have a pretty good sense of how far certain landmarks are from eachother, and I can tell you this thing was getting 150+ by eyeballing. Probably higher, I just wanna rage test before I make too bold a claim.

In other words it depend how many pumps you're going to be putting into this sucker. Probably about a foot, though, if you're going to be mostly taking this thing to about 10 pumps.

Oh also note that I've taken my SS2 to 20-25 pumps about 20-30 times so far and it hasn't exploded. I probably won't take it that high in a war because I have to mount it on the ground in order to pump it over around 14 or 15.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Dart fit is also a major factor. My darts have a tight enough fit that they won't fall out the barrel, but loose enough that I can blow them down the barrel with ease. You also really should of searched. I made a thread just like this about a month or two ago.

Exploding isn't the problem - wearing out the seals on your tank is what I would be concerned about. Consider the number of people that have had problems with the SS2 after constantly overpumping it. But it's your gun - you're entitled to do what you want with it. I plugged the pump on mine despite much advice to the contrary. You just get so much more range out of it, and quite frankly I bought the gun to be used.

I don't pump it that high every time I shoot, because that would be really dumb. I'm pretty sure pumping it that high every once in a while won't do much harm. So in conclusion, in most situations, DON'T GO OVER 15 PUMPS to whoever's reading this. Also, silicone spray lube is magical when used with air tank problems. That shit has saved a dead hornet and not very reliable SS2.

Pump until it gets to the point where you have to mount the blaster on the ground in order to get any more air into the tank. That is generally around 12 or 13 (I think, my SS2 is getting painted, haven't used it in a while).

ok, I'm probably gonna go with 11 then, to keep it war practical, I don't want to have to pump it on the ground in a war
