This is very cool. I am wanting to do this. Maybe instead of getting a new glow laser gun you should make a PVC shell and put a handle on it. Just an idea.

Thats a really good idea........ ........ You should build one and call it a snapbow!!!! you would be Uber cool...

I think my problem is overkill, the barrel is too long, the plunger is too long,m the springs are too long... KBtosy closed on me so I don't have access to another glo lazer right now so I guess I will retire this project until I get more ideas.... the rifle is well balanced and comfortable, it shoots 60 ft or so (been cold and windy out and my garage is only 56ft long). It just needs a little more oomph.

Long narrow plunger tube < Short fat plunger tube almost always. Sad to see this one get retired. I picked up a glow lazer at KB toys at the clearance price just so I could dick around with the fancy lights, but the shell is so god damn comfortable.

You could turn the plunger into a giant pump, and put a 4k tank on it or something, with an appropriate barrel. If you were bent on keeping it a springer, I'm out of ideas right now.

Put a Titan Scatter Cannon and a Marvealous Salvo In there and Voila a super shotgun/Semi auto. You'll need a large bike pump to be effective/ practical though.

I want to post this before classes start on Monday and I have no time to play with this idea.

Mr BadWrench: I figured your thread would be a good place to put these ideas since neither of us have achieved satisfactory results with the glo-lazer. Maybe we can use this thread to consolidate anyone's experiments w/ the glo-lazer shell.

So what I have is a pressure chamber made from 1" pvc with pvc endcap on the back. Inside, I made a plunger from a bunch of items I found at Lowes, see pics below for the exact products. The plunger fits quite tight inside the pvc tube, but it seems like there may not be a tight seal between the plunger and pvc (or between the barrel and pvc) because I'm getting only about 25-30 feet from his monster plunger (about 1ft long x 1in diameter).

See the video at the end for the plunger in action.

If experienced DIY'rs have some constructive suggestions, I would appreciate it because I don't know where to go from here.

Your springs may be the problem. Judging from the video I'd say your plunger pull is much too easy -- I can't tell for real though, without pulling it myself. Anyways, that's the mistake I made on my first homemade -- the springs weren't near strong enough. It was a great design, like yours, but even the FAR with springs too weak wouldn't have made the cut.

I'd agree that your springs are underpowered. Also, you can test your plunger seal: pull back your plunger, and put your palm tightly over the barrel/where you'd attach the barrel. Fire the gun. If you have a good plunger seal, your plunger should move about 3/4 of its stroke and stop (or be dramatically slowed). If your plunger doesn't slow much, you have a bad seal.

Thanks for the tips guys, I will try stronger springs and I'll also try that test to determine how good the seal is.

yea, my seal has always been aweful... my first tests with my old plunger shot the cap off the back of the gun pretty regularly and now it never does..... needs much more work.
