Hey, yeah... this gun is frustrating.

I took it apart weeks ago, figuring I would be able to put it back together. Wrong.

I have no idea how to put together the front part of the gun anymore, all those doodads, springs, and screws in the front for all the ratcheting mechanism. Anyone know of a good few pics of this area, and/or a description of it's components? I may just give some pics of my 'extra' parts to get the right advice.

Your pics gave me enough inspiration to think this assembly is right or at least close:

I don't quite know what to do with these bits:

And finally, I'm concerned about this broken piece:

What was the purpose of this part that snapped off? It appears when the trigger sets off the turreting mechanism, that mechanism was a cam to operate this missing piece. Can I get by without it? And is there anything on this valve or tank that I should plug up, or is that just the pump tube (done)?

Funny.

I've got a broken one of those, too.

I believe it's essential for regulating the cylinder - the advancing pawl pulls and holds it in one direction, and this keeps it from turning in the other. You can see that on mine the pivoting part is still in place. I just need to get the two pieces back together. If yours is lost (?), you may be able to get enough info on the shape of it from this. The same part is black in the first photo I posted (I've got several 3Ks).

Would you mind measuring those 2 straight sides for me? That would be really helpful, I can repair this with some very high strength epoxy. What piece moves this from the cam / turret advance mechanism? But then again, if it's just for regulating in one direction, I don't think the owner of the gun would mind. Still, repairing it is good practice.

And my other questions on assembly, any help there?

I'm not sure, but in your second pic, it looks like the parts that go between the tank and the turret right at the valve opening. The plastic washer-like thing goes over the little stub at the valve opening and the spring pushes that flush with the turret...I think, that's all from memory (from over a year ago) and I'm not even sure the SM3K has that little stub.

Excellent, excellent. With NH's help, especially you, JSB, I should be able to have this gun working in at most a couple days, I'll be sure to give my epoxy at least 24 hours cure time before testing it.

For now, I'm gonna try skipping the repair on the turret rotation control and see how she works while I still have one way control intact. With the repaired seal and petg barrels I'm adding along with the plugged pump, I should get some nice ranges. I'll certainly keep you all updated.

JSB, thanks for all the informative pics!

edit: On second thought, after playing with the parts a bit, I think I'm going to have to repair that rotation control bit. Might be a little longer than I thought in finishing it off. At least I've got the petg cut and taped now. Though I'm past that step already, what's a good barrel length for the 3k? I put in 6 inches all around.

Sorry for the double post but I do have a couple unanswered questions, and you helpful people are just what I need.

I think I have the springs mixed up a bit. I have 2, and I think there are 3 I need. Is there a slightly larger diameter, yet short spring that goes from the valve/tank to the barrels, only shown in JSB's pic behind the shaft of the barrel assembly? That's the one I might be missing, so I'll be hunting for a comparable spring. The longer, thin one is for cam device preventing unwanted barrel rotation, right? And the last, the larger diameter one is for keeping the advancing mechanism engaged, correct?

I'm still looking for dimensions of that white, triangular piece that broke off, so if that's convenient for anyone, I'd like that too. I could probably figure it out without a measurement, so don't bother if it's not easy. I'm gonna look around my house and see if there's any plastic I can cut up for this. I think I am missing the portion that actuates this piece from the cam/turret rotator, it would be some sort of rod, I assume. Can anyone hook me up with an image of that?

And lastly, the barrels, anyone want to advise me on a good size for this gun? Also, just for cosmetics, I was thinking of cutting the end of the barrels at an angle, so they all form a cone-like shape. Will this affect my dart's flight? I imagine the air pressure could send the dart flying high or low, and that I might relieve the imbalance with a hole on the other side.
