Hello Everyone here within the community of NerfHaven, I would Like to start off by introducing myself... My name is Ryan but from here on i will only go by my USERNAME! This is my first post (I did make this account a few months ago in Summer but the admins didnt validate me until now... THANK YOU ADMINS!) and don't worry i have many successful that i have designed and ideas i have already invented/created, i just never had the chance to share these ideas so i can hopefully make homemades and mods for better performance.

I am going to start off by showing you an example of my latest production (has been tested) and it works so im hoping my first contribution will be something to remember here on NerfHaven.

This invention i would like to introduce as.. The MagBreech (breech with simple homemade magazine)
( i use homemade mega darts ((5/8ths Fbr used in side 1/2 in thickwalled PVC/Cpvc)))

the black = PVC/CPVC Breech
the brown = Cardboard box (can be substituted with a plastic idk where to get one so i used cardboard)
the yellow = Rubber bands
Blue = metal rod (from broken maverick barrel)
Lightblue =air flow
Gray = Stefan Dart (5/8ths FBR)
THE GIANT BLACK BLOCKS ARE THE EMPTY HOLE FOR THE BREECH OR HOLES
THE IMAGE TO THE LOWER RIGHT IS A SIDE VIEW OF THE MAGAZINE

++++++++++++++++++++++++EDIT+++++++++++++++++EDIT+++++++++++++++++++EDIT++++++++

Functions of the breech:
-Loads ONE dart into the barrel by pumping the breech like a shotgun (the breech and barrel is held in by Goop, Epoxy, ETC)

-The breech cover is cut down to the size enough to pull it back all the way and load the one dart in, therefore not having to over pump or over thrust the breech barrel

-The darts are held within the MAG by a metal rod or wooden block pulled up by Rubber Bands

-Dart is fired off by compressed air within an air chamber...

NOTE THAT THIS BREECH IS MADE FOR HOMEMADES THAT CAN FIRE OFF TO 100+ Feet RECOMMENDED THAT THIS IS USED FOR AIR POWERED HOMEMADES

-To reload, simply take the cardboard box and reload the box to the top with darts (MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THE WOODEN BLOCK OR METAL ROD INSIDE THE BOX WHILE RELOADING)

-Carefully place the box underneath the hole of the breech COVER (outside of barrel) and add 1 rubber band on each side of the box, insert rubber band over the breech barrel and over the metal rod that sticks out of the box as shown in the figure

-Repeat steps

I am very sorry for not posting a REAL picture its only because i dont have any pictures of the item let alone had the thought id ever be validated till today! yay!!!

PICTURE!

IDK if it worked so ill add this too

sorry im new at this so im very sorry if the pictures horrible... i need tips on uploading if any can be offer then many thanks!

Since Rubber bands are very cheap no mater what size.. it'll be very easy to replace the rubber bands

nothing to latch the clip onto (that may be a problem... gotta fix that)

I was hoping the rubber bands would do it... Until then i will be editing this idea this was a fresh idea i had just a week ago

None of those pictures worked...at least, not on my computer they didn't.

Also, you should use more punctuation and capitalize more of your "I"s. Sloppy typing is extremely erotic here, even when it's not that bad.

Anyway...welcome to Nerfhaven.

It's not an invention until you've actually made something that works. Until you have it's just a design.

From my understanding, he has a working prototype, just no pictures.

It's an interesting idea...I don't know if I've seen a mag spring externally like that. It's a nice solution, because finding a proper spring can be a challenge.

Now, here's the real question: how effective is this design? Does it jam? Ranges as compared to a normal barrel? Telling us how something works is one thing, but we're also quite interested in the practical application of how it works, or how it doesn't work. Since it sounds like you've built one, give us details on how well it works.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work, and welcome to the Haven.

From what it looks like (and it's hard to tell) it won't work. Rubber bands provide much more resistence, or pull in this case, to make this effective. You'll end up with too much friction to overcome and most likely damaged darts.

I could be wrong, your pictures didn't work and those that did weren't too clear. A full explanation of how it works would me very beneficial.

So does the clip move back and forth over the pipe, and then when it gets over the slot a dart gets pushed in? If that is what is supposed to be what's happening here are two problems right off the bat.

1) When firing there is nothing closing the breach, your dart isn't going anywhere

2) The piston arm of a magstrike moves really fast and if the clip is hooked up to it, all you will end up with is shredded darts. The darts won't have time to advance into the breech before the piston pushes the clip forward again.

Remember that the things I pointed out are only applicable if my guess on how this works is correct. You didn't explain the breech at all, so I'm basing this off of the picture.

Edit: Upon further inspection, my guess may be wrong. It's really hard to tell how this functions.

Thank you for time and comments... I will use these comment as a reference and things to remember by before posting... until then i will have to rebuild on (The breech i currently have looks tiny from my cameras stand point) so ill just build a larger model to show you how it works. Also Remember that I am.. n008 xD and im not gonn have a picture of video until maybe christmas break since i have high school to attend, a relationship and nerf and mods is all I do in free time. Many thanks and may I ask "How do you upload photos straight from your computer folder or host an (i saw these in forums while the were loading) IBP or whatever hosted image on to the thread? Because i dont want to have to go use image shack

and yes I have realized rubber bands may not work but they have worked for my low capacity mags. maybe just an average cardboard box that holds up 3-6 darts.

I use rubber bands for the reason that finding springs for a magazine maybe VERY VERY hard to find and all I have is a Lowe's I can bike to but I not 100% sure that they sell springs there (there goes some of my hopes in making a SNAP bow)

I will post an image anytime soon when I have a weekend of Boredom and my parents will let me go to Lowe's for more home made and modding materials.. BTW I DO NOT HAVE OR OWN A DREMEL but I DO have a Drill... will it be an acceptable rotary tool? and add a cutting attachment to it?

Note that this is so far by CARBONS view.. a simple yet probably effective prototype.. and first off. you have to pump the breech like a shotgun! I am sorry for not having to post that i will edit this ASAP
Second.. its not really for a magstrike. I call it the MAGBREECH because it was a nice name again sorry for mixing you up with the name (name magbreech for a hooked up magazine onto the breech the breech is held in by epoxy and or goop ETC)

No. Buy one of the Black and Decker RTX rotary tools. They were on sale this week at WalMart for $20, and are well worth it. Of the five rotary tools I have (including two dremel brand units), the only one I like better than my Father's RTX is my air powered mini unit.

Don't double post, use the edit button, and always capitalize your I's.

On the more interesting side, it looks like a basic breech to me.

Will they be able to sell these sort of tools to UNDER 18+ years of age? If so I can go buy one afterschool and walk home :D

It pretty much is... It's just the idea of adding on a upward forced magazine onto the breech (instead of gravity fed) so yea... it's just an idea people might want to try out.

I have a Dremel 300 series, is this a good model for rotary tool? Also, are the diamond cutting discs that come with them good for cutting plastic, 'cause mine normally just melt the plastic. If not what would a good blade look like?

On topic:Even if you did get this to work, which would be a pretty difficult task, the rubber-band would wear out and you would have to make another breech. Also, how would the clip come out and in of the breech, what would it latch onto?

The 300s are great. Abrasive cutting isn't the best for plastics. The diamond can work, but you usually have to go slowly at the slowest speed. With relatively coarse "high speed steel" cutters you can go faster without melting.

What's so bad about melting through the plastic? I find that I get nice clean cuts that way, and it cuts fairly quickly.
