A little something for you comic book guys, I had a friend send me this link:
The Mindscape of Alan Moore
If you've read any of his works its very interesting. Hell, its probably interesting even if you haven't read anything he's done.
He's completely bat-shit insane, and yet not at the same time.
Alan Moore

Alan Moore is one of the greatest living writers, period. Notice how I said "writers," not "comic writers." He's intimidatingly brilliant. Also, he's gnarly looking, which, while it may not make you a great writer, certainly doesn't hurt.

I wouldn't generally blame a comic book writer for the way action is dEffeminateted in their works, but Moore dictates almost every detail in every panel of his work, from what I've read, and his action is often akward. I'm not saying he's not the most gifted storyteller in comics today, because he likely is, or that punches and onomatopoeia are everything, because they're not. However, half of the medium is the art and if your style of scripting detracts from an aspect of the art, why is it so bad to aknowledge that. Say anything even lukewarm about this guy and fanboys mysteriously develop embolisms all over the world. All I'm saying is that he probably hasn't showered in years, and being that intimate with his jock is probably not a good idea.

Well, I think a large part of his brilliance is his fantical dedication to formalism; he tends to understand storytelling on a conscious, nuts-and-bolts, mechanical level--thus the control-freak tendencies. As far as awkward, atypical action sequences, I think that in many cases, it's intentional, and often played for comic effect: for example, the satirically over-the-top violence in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, with old men, flying teeth, severed limbs, and ear-biting as far as the eye can see, serves as a counterpoint to the refined, gentlemanly violence found in Victorian Adventure Stories and so forth. Or were you talking about something completely different?
