Try calming down first.

If it is stripped, then just pull it apart with some of those muscles you have. If you have any...If that doesn't work, you really don't need the cocking handle anyway. Or is it on the gun? I don't know what the 'cocking bar' is but I'm sure a small tug and it'll come off.

Try banging it upside down too

Its the cocking mech. Also its like DEEP down and i dont think i can pull it off...

This happened to me, and this is what I did. Get a screwdriver, pry open the two halves and slip a hacksaw between them, cut the offending screw. After removing said screw and opening gun pry out the screw bits that are still in the slide. When you're putting it back together use a wood screw (thick threads, pointed tip) instead and it should stay together.

Forsaken Angel said a while back that if you pour a little lighter fluid on it then it will eat away at the plastic around the screw. The entire article is here: http://nerfhaven.com...stripped screws
Hope that helps.

Holy shit people....

get your cheap screwdriver, put some superglue on the tip and press firmly into the screw.... wait a few minutes and thread it out.... then put the tip of the screwdriver in boiling water to release the superglue.

That seems more of a way to hold a Nerf gun hostage.

On Topic: I had this problem with one of my guns, I just drilled it out, no problem. Small hole = small drill, it's not really that much of a problem.

Ok, this has happened to me twice. First unscrew it as much as you can then pull the two parts of the cocking away from each other. If this does not work. Twist it around untill it can be taken off f. As rude as it sounds; yes.

In future, buy a better screw driver. You'll need Philip sizes #0 and #2

If this is any help whenever I get a stripped screw I use a flat head screw driver.
I'm just the scitzophrenic clusterfuck of randomness that is me.

No, it breaks the plastic around the screw.

Depending on the gun and screw position, if all else fails, you could just brute force it open, prying near or at the point of connection. The plastic usually snaps right at the screw.

Anyway, if you have cheap screwdrivers and are facing a tough screw, you could always grab a pair of pliers, grip the screwdriver, brace your hand carefully on the back of the screwdriver, put it in the screwhole and twist.

Of course, you know to be careful, and brace the gun itself too.
Great advice in this thread though. I had no idea lighter fluid melted polyethelyne.

I think Badwrench has the best solution here, if all else fails I'll just grab an appropriate sized bit, and drill the shit out of it until the head is gone.
