Hello.
Upon plugging in my glue gun today, I noticed that the trigger mechanism of my glue gun was clogged up with solidified hot glue. This has happened to me a few times before, and this time I simply pulled at the stuff for a couple minutes using a pair of needle nosed pliers. I doubt it makes any difference, but I'm using glue sticks from a 24-pack bought at a local dollar store. So, I'm wondering if there is any way to prevent this from happening?

This happened to me a few times and I thought nothing of it. That is until the electronics fried and somehow caught fire/exploded. Mind you this was while I was siting down and doing a very precise gluing procedure for my BBB. Total trashed my bbb and my at2k. And my glue gun. And my hands.

Sometimes they break if you leave them on for too long. This has happened to me (I'm an idiot) twice. This could've been the problem.

That's probably what happened... I think that my glue sticks are ever so slightly too small for the gun (so instead of using the trigger, I just push the stick.) Some of the glue might have leaked past the still solid glue and gummed up the trigger.

I have never had this happen. But i do know that you can probably open the glue gun up ang probly rip out the glue. Prob solved. I think I'll go and work on stefans now.

I had this problem and I found that I was jamming the glue gun. I was basically pulling the trigger* and pushing the glue in even when the glue hasn't been heated yet. This caused the glue to come outward.

Try using it and then letting it warm up again.

I had something like that happen to me once. Thankfully, I wasn't holding it when it happened, but it knocked out the power to that room, made a really loud and scary noise, and shot out sparks. I later plugged it back in later. It shot out sparks, and caused the power for that room to go out again.

As far as fixing the problem goes, like everyone else has said, just get a new gun. I use two hot glue guns, both of which were purchased at walmart for about $2 each. They've continued working fine even after all these months.
