Ok, I have read around the forums about how goop is so wonderful. So today I bought some. My question is: its not sticky at all, and its a glue from what I can find. It is well...goopy though. Is my bottle of it just wierd, or is it normal?

ok, you have to roughen the surface and let it dry. Once dry, it should be slightly workable, and really really strong. Like, anything it is purchased to will be held for ever. Its pretty much like really strong rubber.

What kind of glue did you get? Amazing goop is just a brand, and it has several different types you can get. The one everyone uses is called Amazing Goop Plumbing and it comes in a purple tube.

Goop's purpose is to make things air tight.

Just a note for anyone wondering, Goop is made for sealing as mentioned already and not (as my friend thought when making stefans) NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR HOT GLUE. It takes a while to dry on some things as well which is why I tend to stay away from it.

actually Goop is a great replacement for hot glue if you want something to be permanent. I've used shoe goop as well as just regular goop both work fine.

Forgive my spelling and grammar. I post from my cell phone a lot. Sometimes when I'm on the can at work.

As far as sealing barrels (PETG CPVC replacements) I agree. But it shouldn't be used for everything that hot glue is used for. For example Dartsmithing, My friend and I tried making stefans with Goop and it was real pain because the dome kept caving in on itself. So in some respect Goop is useful but I wouldn't quit using hot glue cold turkey for it.

Ive found that a few drops of laquer thinner or another paint remover down the tube helps it dry harder and faster.
