Okay, so I got an AT2k today and it was working all well and good until I dismantled it and put a new barrel on and let it sit for about two hours. I went to pump it and to my horror, it was leaking from the barrel! I DID search, but I didn't find anything specific to the AT2k.

I know the standard fix for a pump gun that's leaking out the barrel is to spray silicone lube down it with the valve open, then close it, but I'm unsure if this is the right thing to do or not.

A little help please?

Yeah, I just tried that and it didn't fix it.

Probably got something in the valve. look closely a the valve and see if there is something sitting there blocking the valves ability to close all the way.

it only leaks if I pump it up slowly, which enables it leak as fast as I pump. If I pump it as fast as I can, it leaks on the first pump, but not on any additional ones. (well it does, but I haven't gooped the new tubing down yet) This is getting really annoying. I know it's a common problem though, so I'm sure someone has a good fix for it.

Bob, thats what happened to me, the BIC mod make it leak out the barrel

I still have the trigger spring attached. I did a little dinking around with it and it holds pressure fine if I pump it fast (due to the reason JSB mentioned) but sometimes if I pull the firing pin and rotate it, it'll seal for about three shots, then start leaking again. I tried spraying lube down it but it didn't help.

JSB, how do you recommend opening it up? I'd really hate to ruin my AT2k.

The trigger could be pulling a little on the firing pin causing it to leak out when you pump it. That might be why when you pump it slow it leaks, but if you pump it fast enough the pressure builds up so the slight pull of the trigger will not open the valve. Try pumping it while its not in it's shell if you have not done that already.

It's actually in a new shell (the shell from the Recon's light) and it leaks whether or not its in a shell.

Just thought I'd let you guys know that I fixed it.

How did you finally fix it?

I used JSB's link, but instead of using a PVC cutter I used a hacksaw. The 3/32 that was removed via the saw kerf shortened the tank enough that when I reassembled it (with plenty of super glue and goop) it was short enough that the spring was finally under proper compression. I DID super glue the O-ring on while I was at it, so it was also an improvement in that respect.
