Why do Mac fans always exclaim that they can run windows on their Mac? is that really such a big deal?

Of course it is...for a Mac user (your mileage may vary). It's handy for a system that runs a "minority" system to be able to boot into the dominant OS. For myself, it allowed me to get rid of the second computer that was under my desk for the times I need to boot into Windows. It's nice to have the option.

Notice how PC users don't care or want to run osx?

They don't?

Not saying it's common (or even supported). A fair amount of people would love to see OSX legitimately on PC hardware (you see that desire expressed over at Slashdot quite a bit).

This may be kind of nit-picking, but your prices are way off. Processors can cost that much or more, sure, but motherboards? I've never paid over $100 for one.

Alright, I will admit that they could very well be off. I know that I can get old (years) pentium 3 and 4 chips at the school's surplus store for $5-10 each. I don't know how much motherboards cost for most computers, but my friends who were trying desperately to fix their crashed (motherboard fried) computers in time to get their projects done told me that it's cheaper to just buy a new computer rather than repair it, and that the motherboard alone cost around $500. And as far as I knew, we were talking laptops, which are less component-swapping friendly, as far as I can tell.

The only reason I'd like to run windows on my Mac is so that I can run AutoCAD. Other than that, I've had nothing but trouble with the system, and would be completely happy just running OSX. Unfortunately, I'm an Architect, and we use CAD. No way around that, unless I want to use some kind of non-Autodesk off brand, which I really don't.

And about the HP comment, I'm in a class of some 60 people and seen HP's die disproportionally to the other machines.
