Well, folks, it’s time. I doubt that anyone has even seen this coming, but I am pretty sure that it will blow a few minds. I would first and foremost like to thank Forsaken_angel24 for giving me a starting point and also NerfOnFier for paying the $1050 that inspired me to actually complete my very ambitious project. I also have to thank my best bud Shane for all his help on creating this beauty. I have to mention at this point that even though this was made with intentions of selling, it is currently not for sale. We put too much effort into this to sell it, and as such, it would take a pile of cash to get me to part with it. I would also like to note that there will be no writeup for this thing. I plan on taking internal pictures, and anybody that would be willing to put this much work into one blaster should be able to figure out how to make this with nothing more than pictures and maybe a bit of help from me. If you really want to build one, I would be more than glad to help you in any way that I can, just pm me. Anyway, onto the weapon…

Notice the similarities to the lancer from the game:

What you see above is the accumulation of lots of work, thinking, discussion and over 30 combined years of my friend and I building and designing things. I decided to build the lancer when I saw Forsaken’s get bid up to $500+. At that point, my friend and I were confident that we could build one and improve upon it. Some of the original improvements we were looking to make were:

+Prettier paintjob
+Smoother Bondo
+One button for the LEDs
+ Make everything just a little cleaner overall

We had it finished to that point after 1 ½ days of work. Everything was done except for the paint. After getting to that point, I pointed at a google picture of the actual lancer and said, “Huh. You know…if we made these pieces around the magazine, it would look a lot better.” After that, it just kinda snowballed out of control with changes galore until we became happy that it was as much like the lancer as possible. Here are the changes we made over the original lancer design:

+More realistic paintjob
+Trigger guard and cutout trigger
+ Detail pieces around the magazine
+Sloped front
+Raised and filled in around the back site
+Only one switch (which is hidden) to operate the LEDs
+Two vibrating motors which activate with the chainsaw revving
+Light up Gears symbol that activates on trigger pull
+Got rid of the stock in order to make the blaster more to scale
+Added corduroy grips to the front grip
+Accurately angled hole for front grip
+More accurate light placement
+Cleaner and more accurate overall

The inside of this thing is also modified with a BBB spring inside (for now) and an Angel breech.

This project was six months from beginning to end. The original inspiration for this project was cash. My friend and I both needed some money, and we saw the original lancer selling so well, so we decided to replicate it. All we had at our disposal tools-wise was a dremel tool, a srewdriver, sandpaper, razor knife, drill, soldering iron, pliers, putty knife, vice. The odds don’t seem good, but when you have two guys like my friend and I, who are poor, you find ways to do awesome stuff with very little. As far as materials go, we used ¼” plexiglass, 1/8” polycarbonate, Bondo (AHHHH!!!!), 25 LEDs, paint, JB Kwik, Fishin’ Glue, wire spools, PVC couplers, scrap plastic, hot glue. I would like to say that I hate Bondo and plexiglass. During the first few weeks of working on this thing, my apartment was completely pink with Bondo dust and had tons of plexi dust everywhere on the floor. When I was at my apartment, I had to wear a mask. It was terrible. Anyway, this project was not a solid six month project. We worked for about a week solid before taking a few weeks break, then worked for a day and then stopped for about 4 months, then worked a few days, stopped for a month and then finally finished it up. The only thing that wasn’t done to this to make it more realistic was smoke. I wanted to put a model train smoker to the chainsaw, but I just got sick of working on it, and there is already such a tight squeeze just to get all the wiring into the shell.

Now some detail pics:

The switch to activate the LEDs:

Yes, I realize that the cocking handle is not painted. I will be making a new one, but I haven’t been able to decide on my favorite design.

Now here’s a few in progress pictures in which you can see some of the changes made during the evolution of this blaster:

And this is why I hate Bondo...

There we have it, folks. I believe this may be the most radical cosmetic and FUNctional modification ever done to a NERF weapon. I would honestly love to see something even crazier than this, but I personally have never seen anything like it before. This is a product of Kappa Sigma Armory (Yes, that is a corny pseudo-acronym involving my friend and I's real names, what of it?). Questions? Comments? Flames?

One word to this. Wow. This is incredible, i like the trigger the way it looks like the actual lancer and the curving on the top. Also the Gears of War symbol.

This is what I love about this community. Someone has a great idea, posts it, and then others in the community take it to the next level.

This is maybe the most intensive and well done cosmetic modification I've seen.

That's really great.
It seems to me like if you had modeled the magazine cover peices around a high capacity clip, that bit would be more to scale.
Anyway It's great stuff.

Alright...I can't say thanks enough. My friend and I are so happy with what everyone has said. Again, thanks so much.

@Bobafan: You're very right. Doing a high capacity mag was considered. We decided against it because it looked a little funny with the stuff sticking down past the bottom of the chainsaw housing. Also, it couldn't have been a true high cap mag because the 12 shot was too long, and if any shorter of one was made, the springs would be too strong, so it would have been a cosmetically lengthened six shot mag.

@MSDFS: Bonda has the consistency of...pudding. To get it to stay in shape, you have to smear it allover the stuff on top and then keep smearing the stuff upward until it starts to harden (which takes a couple minutes.) EDIT: I forgot to mention that the Bondo is covering plexiglass. There are sheet of plexi underneath of the Bondo, and the Bondo was added over it to make it smooth and continuous. It will be more aparent when I post some internal pics.

@ice: Making you unable to see the longshot inside of this is actually a pretty good compliment. Thanks.

@Everyone else: Thanks a ton!

EDIT: I am planning on making a video for this to show the features and such, and I hope to have it up this weekend.

Dude, if this has a brass breech and can hit 80+ feet, then this in my book trumps FA's. It's alot more truer to form. If FA's sold for $1k, this should sell for $1.5k at least.

I think I said it in the original post, but maybe I overlooked it. Yes. As of right now it has a BBB spring addition and an Angel breech. I haven't range tested it just because I don't really have a reason to. It is the same as any ls with an angel breech and BBB spring addition. That will change, though. I am going to put a weaker spring in it so it isn't quite as awkward to prime, but it will still shoot well because of the breech.

@r3unbreakable: Thanks :D

EDIT: @BDIYA below: Yeah, I never expected it to be that close a replica, and I am very excited to see what they have to say. I wonder how much longer NerfOnFier's suspension is? Also, Thanks to you too.

Wow. Just,.. wow. I think this by far trumps FA's lancer. The smoothness of the Bondo is really great. The whole gun just flows. You know, I don't think you should sell this right away. Keep it for a few months, let the internet get aquainted with it, then put it up on Ebay.

It's not like that. I put lube on it and its the same. Its just stuck. And when I cock it back it goes farther back then usual. Also I push as hard as I can and it wont go back in. I've tried the methods and they wont work. Also pics are up.

Maybe its just bias, but FA did it first, and although this is true to the gun (more so then FA's was) I still have to say, his paintjob and just the whole thing worked. It looked like a toy made that way. This looks like a prop. Nothing bad about props mind you, they are great. I personally love yours. FA's just felt more... Nerfy. And as Nerfer, I gotta side with his. As a theater geek, I have to praise yours without stopping. Its beautiful.

I would prefer a cleaner paintjob instead of brushed metal thing, but I paint my guns gay colors, so yeah.

@Everyone who has posted nice comments so far: Thanks so much. My friend and I appreciate it very much. I personally enjoy the "cool dude" posts.

@Dr. Rockzo: What? I don't get your point.

@Busta: This blaster was made with complete intentions of looking like the lancer from the game. It would have been cleaner if I had painted the gun one solid color...but it wouldn't have been a replica, which is what I wanted. You're right, Forsaken's is more nerfy. If I were going into a nerf war, I would choose his because it has a stock. As far as sitting this thing on a shelf, I would choose mine. It's totally cool that you like his better, and I still thank you for the great comments about it because the things you like about it are what I was aiming to do and the things you don't like are things I wanted to avoid.

This is really a hell of a job.

I especially like the bits around the magazine, and the work you've done on the stock area. She looks spot on. The logo is also pretty kick ass. I like the fact that it isn't another copy of Forsaken's. You've made your own unique monster.

This makes me want to get to work on my own lancer. I've been intending on making one, just never got around to it. I don't think I have the bondo skills to come near what you've done here.

That makes sense. It does look great from a prop standpoint, and the fact that it works makes it worth while. If you do sell it on Ebay, I cannot see this going for any less then Angel's. It certainly looks beautiful.
