[Foam Shooter]

Alright I'm working on my own right now. I would like to know how long you cut the spring to before I waste some time with measurements. Second, is the 6" the piece of CPVC or the whole thing including the plunger head.

Edit: Never mind I misread it. I have it straight now. I would still like to know the spring length though.

F_S: Just measure the spring, and cut it in half. It'll end up at about 5 1/2" or so. It gets compressed down a bit, so exactitude isn't absolutely necessary.

Alright, here is todays work:


It's pretty nicely shaped. It has a unique feel. I still need to add a handle and work on the catch to get more compression. I like this design.

It's mostly that the first time you make a new kind of homemade it is a lot of sloppy guess work. The second time you make it it is much easier and cleaner. I'm pretty much making it a second time because of the measurements that he has given me. I do appreciate the compliment though, thanks.

Oh, I thought you were talking about the one that I was building to replicate his.
It's all about preference. Mine is long and sleek and his is short and compact. I obviously also like mine better because I made it and I'm sure that this applies to Rork also. Also that comment should really be in my topic about my gun not in Rork's topic about his. I appreciate the compliment though.

Tah-Dah! I like the unique feel of this in my hand. Just to compare it to my gun, it is much heavier and much more compact. It is a little harder to prime then mine. Mine seems to go a little faster and to be a little more comfortable but they are both very good homemades. I like the idea for this Rork.

You could make the handle ALOT quicker by using a 3/4 plug or something and drill two holes through it into the end cap to stablize it, then put some 3/4 PVC into the plug and drill some holes and screw that togeather... hmmmm. That'll make it a real *SNAP* to put togeather. (Snap as in really easy to put togeather, not saying it's a real SNAP)

That's pretty much the way the cpvc endcap works. Plugs fit into fittings; they're the same size as pipe.

You can see a vent hole directly above the trigger on the plunger chamber.

I'm pretty stupid when it comes to home-mades as I do not browse this area of the forums much often, so I am unfamiliar with purposes of some materials used, or the purpose of those vent holes.

A plunger causes pressurization of the space in the area in front of it, and causes depressurization (or a vacuum) behind it, which slows the plunger down. Vent holes serve to equalize pressure behind the plunger as quickly as possible, reducing this vacuum.

I just added a 1/4" hole on each side. The plunger stroke is short (2 1/2"), which means it's also VERY fast, so very little vacuum can be created. With the SNAPbow, the ultra-long plunger stroke creates quite a vacuum, unless you vent the hell out of it (I use a 5/8" hole in the top of the pressure chamber)

Well then make it. It took me 2 hours of medium effort to make it. It is one of the simplest most effective homemades you will find right now. Definitely a good starting point.

Having recently building the L+L and you having built Snap-1 compact, I have noticed a trend with homemade side-arms.
It seems as if they contradict the ranges of non-homemade pistols.

My reasoning:
+Homemade pistols, such as The L+L and The Snap-1 compact, have plunger tubes that are as long, if not longer then Store-bought side-arms and some rifles too.
+These pistols either out=range or match the range of some modified guns. The great thing about this is that one could have this gun that packs a good punch in a compact size. Basically, you could be carrying a side-arm that matches your opponents primary.

I have to say your Pistol looks pretty awesome and I really like Your designs. Just curious, Do those tips on the end of your barrels serve any purpose, or are they cosmetic?

They're dogbone barrels, inspired by Carbon's; it's just cpvc forced into about an inch of sch. 40 pvc. Works really well, but it's a very tight fit. Actually, I would take your thoughts on homemades a step further; I believe that with a little ingenuity, you can do just about anything with a homemade that you can do with a mod, but better Just compare the performance of the X-bow with that of the +bow.
