Okay, I was thinking we should start some kind of Nerfing awards for 2003, like best mod/modding skills, best homemade/homemade skills, best overall Nerfer... You know the rest. If you have any people you want to nominate, any more awards (which there has to be), or just anything at all, post them here. Thanks.

Updated:

Nominations: remember, these include people at NHQ

Best Mods-Raganorocks (is that how you spell his name?)
Cxwq

Best Homemades-3DBBQ

Best Name-

Wierdest Avatar-

Most used Avatar-six hungry ducks (thats me!)

Best homemade ebaumsworld style pic(hehe)- Groove

Best Nerf Sale in trading section-Itallion Stallion

Best forum moderator-

Best Noob-

Overall Nerfer of the year-

Remember, these are only nominations, and if you guys think there should be anymore nominations or awards, or anything at all, post them here and I'll keep you updated.

I kinda like the Idea. Shows someone how respected he is to the community.

I want to nominate Raggy for Mods.

I'm not too big on this idea. People are, for the most part, given the respect and credit they deserve when they contribute something original. I think having your mod put in NH's Mod section, or keeping the community interesting with new ideas are "awards" in themselves. Look at a thread of one of BBQ's homemades, or one of Ragg's mods and you'll see that most of the replies are giving props to the creators. I personally don't think we need formal awards as long as people are getting the credit they deserve.

Yeah, that and there are too many people in the nerfing community to think about. There's no need for awards. Next thing you're going to want is a beauty pageant, and none of us are pretty.

i wish i could fairly say i'd vote raggy for mods, but sadly, all of the good mods from him that i've seen have been in the last 3 weeks or so...that doesn't aplly to a whole year. cxwq wins by a landslide, if you look at the whole year.

Look if your going to give awards it needs to be organized. Now I really don't think awards are needed, but it might be fun. Here is my suggestion for format which can be refined, rejected or whatever.

First you make a topic for the submissions to what ever categories you want to have awards for. Next ask a group of long time boardmembers, who are generally respected as being fair, to act as a board to sort through the nominations and narrow things down to 3 or 4 people for everyone to vote on. The nominee's should submit a web link that shows off the mod(s) that they are being nominated for. Then we as a group get a week or so to cast our votes. Votes get tallied at the end of the week (to prevent voter bias, i.e. voting for who ever is a head because they think that person will win anyway) and the winner announced. Pats on the back, kudos and applause are given and we move on.

I think there should be a humanitarian award. You know, someone who makes Nerf available to the masses. Or nerf supplies. Or nerf tubing.

The gayness is getting taken out of this, just so you know.

Looks like THIRST and IronRhino are pioneering selfnomination.

And I'd just like to second THIRST on the category of 'best BF collection'.

Ray is right on the mod award. Ragornocks has only done a few mods on here, while Cx has done 2/3 of the mods on this site.

I don't mean to toot my horn, but for the category of Nerfer of the year...I did pay a $600 plane ticket to fly out to Armageddon, and stay with Cxwq for 2 days. That was scary. Scary but fun. Maybe it was the fun kind of scary. Maybe it was all that acid and coke we did.

Oh, wait....shit.

Do I get anything for tolerating this guy for two days?

In all seriousness, I would have to agree with the people who think this is kind of pointless. It's very hard to categorize contributions to the NIC and evaluate one person against another. How about we just turn this into a thread about the people you feel are under-recognized for their contributions? Self-nomination not desired or appreciated.
