I was just curious to see how different people go about straighting their fbr when they are making darts, because I'm sure theres one way that must be faster and more effective than the others. Do share!

Just stick them in the dryer on very low heat. In about 5 mins it will be done. Just make sure they don't get too hot.

Myself, I took a shoe box, cut a hole in it, toss the cut foam in there, close it up, tape it up, stick in a hair-dryer, and let it rip for a few seconds on HOT. Usually, I don't need to bend them at all...the heat just sets them straight. I dunno if this would work for longer or 5/8" foam...

Sometimes they get wider when put in the dryer I think cwxq once said. someone told me to put a nail through it and wait a day but i just use a hairdryer.

I use hot water to heat them up and a spoon to roll them so that they straighten. Then I toss them in ice water to keep the shape.

I also find this technique will restore regular red and yellow micro darts that have gotten soft to a nice stiff consistancy.

The clothes dryer method works great for me. 15-20 mins on medium heat and their done. Mmm, freshly baked stefans.

I cut 20' off my spool, grab one end and pull a meter or so through my other hand. Just enough pressure to heat it up with the friction. Then I keep my hands apart, with a little tension on the FBR, for about 10 seconds while it cools fully. Repeat if needed, move on to the next meter. Does a reasonably good job without taking too long. In addition, I try to make my darts in advance. If you just leave them sitting around for a month or so after making them they tend to straighten out the rest of the way.
