The L+L is a homemade Lock and Load.
L = Lock
+ = and (n)
L = Load

Over the past two months, I have designed and built a working replica of the Lock N' Load

OVERVIEW:
As many of you know, the Lock and Load is a gun of increasing rarity. The price as of now seems to be floating at 30-40 dollars and will probably increase. I wanted to design a replica of the L+L that essentially grew off of the +bow. The L+L is, in a sense, a “little brother” of the +bow. It is intended to be built using the excess parts of a +bow to be cost effective. Many of the parts are extras and only $27.68 in costs is required to build one of these if you have extras from a +bow. Every part for this gun can be ordered from McMaster.com however, some of the parts can be picked up from a hardware store for less. I do not recommend building this gun if you have not already purchased parts for a +bow. In the parts list, the cost is outlined for both methods (with +bow parts, and without +bow parts) This guns intended use is as a secondary however it can outperform many primaries. It is very durable and looks pretty sexy with a +bow. This gun outperforms a modded LnL with no bungees or modding required.

L+L Rev 2
Rev 2 Plans include:
+Refined Templates
+Updated Construction Write-up
+Updated parts list. "Build an L+L for under $10.00?!?!"
L+L Rev 1
Rev 1 Plans include:

+Construction write-up
+Parts list

Updated:
11/18/08: Revised Catch Mechanism and Parts list.
11/29/08: Templates updated (re sized to correct size)
1/18/09: Catch Mechanism revised
1/23/09: Rev 2 Plans Released!

L+L REVISIONS/ MODIFICATION DIRECTORY
+Rev 1.5 Revised templates in "eco-friendly" format.
+Tweaking Modification to plunger rod, plunger, barrel setup.
+Initial Review A review of the gun and some revisions/suggestions.
+L+L CS Slug's twist on the L+L.

Cost Overview (REV 2)
1. Building gun with leftovers from the construction of 1 +bow. = $6.88
2. Building gun without leftovers (purchasing all new parts) = $67.09
I hope you understand the point I am trying to make here.

Basic Info.
Barrel: 1/2in CPVC nested in 1/2inPVC
Plunger draw:
Range: 85 feet
Barrel length: 4in

If you are having any problems downloading any of these, post stating the software you are opening it under and what the error is.

If you find any errors in the write-up or partslist, post them stating the problem clearly and I will address it.

I would also like to state that I did get permission from CaptainSlug to modify his templates for my design, and I would like to thank him for giving me permission and inspiration.

I encourage many of you to build this gun and if you do, post pictures. Feel free to modify designs and share with the community.
Good Luck,

I admire what you are trying to do here. I just dont think it is necessary. The Lock n Load is no longer the best pistol out there. With NFs being readily available and just as good there is really no need for the L n L anymore. This design not only requires you to have a plusbow, and have purchased all the parts, but also purchase more parts and assemble it.

For this reason it isn't worth it. It looks good though, I must say.

If it gets incredible ranges, it may be a viable option.

I, too "have recon," as they say. I get him in old country. Then I realize he sucks like bog. So I trade him for potato.

UPDATE- Video added.

BustaNinja- Still try to see what you can do with the design, I like growth of ideas.
Zaxbys- Hell Yeah! I might bring some for test use and possible sale
nerfboi- Microsoft Word. Are you having trouble?
TimmyTown- The L+L Is more durable then a Nitefinder and gets range with no banding or modification.

The price seems a bit high, other than that it looks pretty cool. Its basically a downsized +bow right?

EDIT: Also, the write-up download isn't working for me. Would it be possible to just post the write up it?

What ranges are you getting? Mid 80's?
It looks nice, but I prefer my NFs.

Edit: I'm having difficulties with the links too. the PDF one sends me to a login page.

Sidenote: I'm glad that several newer homemades will be making an appearance at SENO. I'm excited  .

I'm impressed 'Side o'. I think, with a little revision, this can become the ultimate springer sidearm. You have perfect timing, too... I just bought most of the remaining supplies for a +Bow, and have yet to begin cutting PC. I'll build one of these too!

Sorry, in the construction write-up ranges are posted (60 feet). Should be working now, try format 2 if the first one didn't work.

Future reference:
Format 1: Microsoft Word
Format 2: Adobe

Now none of the links work. sorry for all the trouble. Also, I like the HUGE step up from you. you went from a basic homemade SNAP and made foam shell of a +Bow to this sexy piece of art. Major kudos.

Are the links not working for anyone else? I just downloaded all of them again onto my computer. I had to give it a few minutes but it loaded.

Sorry, in the construction write-up ranges are posted (60 feet).

That's odd. My NF with a 4" section of a +bow spring gets mid-high 80's. That is with 2bbs for stefan weights and a 4 1/2" cpvc barrel.
Also, I thought of another question. What is the primed length? I would think it is around 15".

edit: the links aren't working for me either

My Computer software is Vista, and it is Microsoft Office Word 2007. I must now retire for the night. Expect official range test and link updates within two days. Any suggestion on how to host this? I am currently using ScribD to host my documents. not sure why just the construction write-up isn't working though.

EDIT- I see now, you have to join ScribD to view that one link. Rats! If you are desperate, I just recommend you join.
EDIT 2- Thanks for doing that Slug, I probably should have looked into document hosting more beofre I posted. I shall edit in your suggestions probably Thurs. (Big day tomorrow: School, Football band, Homecoming, Dance...)

1. You need to save the .doc file in an older version, or save them as an HTML page and host them somewhere. I went ahead and did that for you.

Here's the templates, partlist, and write-up in one zip file. Saved as a widely compatible .DOC
http://www.sendspace.com/file/c2lm66

I only used .DOC for my part template file because it allowed me to precisely specify the print size of each template.

2. You should resize your images before dropping them into a Word document. The current file is 12MB (10mb more than it should be) probably because you just dragged-and-dropped the files directly from your camera
3. You specified that the holes on the frame piece be drilled to 1/8". That is NOT the right size if you want to be able to tap those holes for UNC #6-32. They should be drilled to 7/64" in order to have a usable amount of thread.
4. The grip could use another pair of standoffs to hold it to the side pieces instead of using one very long screw through both parts.
5. Your plunger head does not need 2 o-rings and a rubber washer. The rubber washer alone should be enough.

Also you should drill holes in the templates before you cut them out of the plastic squares. I.E. do step 9 before step 4. And absolutely remove the O-rings from the plungerhead. All they do is add more friction and bring down performance.

Very good job for someone you isn't CS. Once CS's comments are implimented it will be a VERY good side-arm for the +Bow.
