I'm just wondering if there is anyway to dye or permanently paint FBR. I can't order red FBR online because my parents have an extreme fear that paypal kills babies.

Why would you dye FBR anyways?

Buy white FBR.

And buy black FBR for winter when you're snow nerfing.

To make it easier to find, spray the backs or fronts of the darts with neon paint. It works, trust me.

I've heard white FBR is way too big in diameter, and I have really bad experiences involving stretching foam.

Ubermensch: I already do that, and it doesn't help all that much.

Well, you wouldn't want white or black, just go to your local hardware store, I guarantee they'll have some warning neon spray paint. Orange will work well.

Are you implying that I spray the whole dart, because I already said I add color to the ends.

The white stuff is perfect for petg springers. We just ordered 100 more feet and will be making it our standard foam from now on. It's insanely easy to find, much more than every other color, especially now that it's fall and the leaves are changing to every sort of color but white. :)

Seriously, we had a war on Sunday, and we went through about 600 gray darts (sorry badger! :D) and 100 reds out of the 130 that we had. Couldn't find any of them.

I find that winter nerfing in the northwest consists of alternately firing and drying your darts. They are generally easy to find, no matter what color, as they float on top of the puddles.

Since I know most spray dissolves some foam, how well does FBR react to the accelerants?

Spray vinyl dye is the only thing that will work, but it will change the surface texture a little. And you can't go from a dark color to a light one.

Alright, thank you everyone for your help. I'm gonna try to make my parents not hate on paypal so excessively and then I'll probably go with Mod Man's ebay foam.

Grey FBR really isn't that hard to find.
In order to make my darts easier to identify from the rest of the pile I've started spraying a light coat of vinyl dye onto the felt discs while they're still on the roll.

50' = 600"

If you estimate an extra 1/4" for trimming, you end up with about 266 usable blanks. If you screw up by 1/2" per dart you get about 240. It goes down from there. Assuming you're making 2" stefans of course.

Of course for me, it's 300 even, but I have a machine ;)

Spray on plastidip will also work without melting the dart. I would only do the ass end tho. cause the texture change can make it stick too much to the barrel.
