I went into lowes yesterday to pick up some glue, and I was walking down the isle where the foam is, and Noticed that the frost king foam was darker. Intrigued, I bought some and went home. When I ran it through some cpvc, It fit the cpvc MUCH better than the other frost king foam, and was much denser. I have not made any Stefans yet but I will soon and report the results. Did anyone else notice the foam getting thicker and denser, or is it just me?

I got some frost king foam of this sort. I made a batch of stefans. I loved them and switched over to 9/16 for all of my barrels. I went to get some more and it was nowhere to be found, well there was only the tin stuff. Lesson Learned - Dont use frost king. Use the kind they sell at McMaster. 10 bucks for 20 feet shipped.

Yeah, Frost King varies greatly in quality. That's why we don't like it. I got a batch at my local hardware store and it was great, but I got one at Lowe's and it was crap.

I sell Mile High Black FBR for $0.20/ft

20ft would be $4 plus $5 to ship.

Which isn't much better, but hey, anything helps.

Well at Menards, you can get 20 ft of 1/2" grey fbr for $1.98 (or close to it). The brand isn't frostking, but it is D for Dennis. It is very good fbr, and is such a great deal. :)

Dennis brand is the brand mcmaster has. I am in love with it. Off topic: I just cut over 200 pieces of foam in like 1 hour, I love it!

Here's your lesson on foam today kids, learn it.

Foam is made in batches. No one can even confirm that dennis or frost king is even the manufacturer. B/c the primary purpose of the FBR product is to fill gaps, and NOT be made into darts, FBR available at retail stores will greatly vary from batch to batch. My best advice would be if you have found foam that fits your barrels well, buy all that Home Depot (or whoever) has. It works for me until I can get a good source.

Bought some of mcmasters foam one time, and man, I am never gonna get that peice of shit again. The stuff was very limp. Couldn't even use the stuff it was so bad. I use the stuff lowes sells (not frost king) its in a purple and clear bag.

On a side note, only get the 100 foot black rolls that amazon sells if you want a whole bunch of test darts (they get pretty limp).

Went and purchased some Frost King at Lowe's, seemed like great quality. Got it home and it was LOOSE, yeah, thats right, LOOSE, in CPVC. I really had to heat it up to get it to fit okay with the CPVC, and its useless in PETG barrels.

About 6 months ago all I could buy was dark gray Frost King foam that was way to big for my CPVC barrels, then Home Depot started selling a light grey Frost King foam that was still a bit too tight, but it was drastically better. The point is, don't expect to have a constant availability of the same foam to purchase in hardware stores. They care about making 1/2" foam available for purchase at the cheapest cost to them, even if it means switching the product they're purchasing.

When speaking about a swallow, always make sure you know whether it is an African or European swallow. It is very important.
