Here is the switch that shuts the Vulcan off if there is no chain.
Tape it down, and put the orange piece that was over it back on.
Take the chain door and open it up.
Here it is, disassembled. We want the little nub that contacts the switch, and holds everything shut. Take the bar off, two screws hold it on, to get to the nub.
You should be here. Take the spring and plastic nub piece out and put it back together. Reassemble the Vulcan.
Now the door will open and close freely. To prevent it from popping open and dropping the chain randomly in battle, I took some polycarbonate and made a rotating strip. If I want it closed, I rotate it over the door. Then I can quickly rotate it around to open the door, instead of fussing with the door and having to force it open.

The weird thing about this is that after looking at the vulcan instructions, I found that it says it's okay to open the door while a chain is loaded. I find that it is possible, you just have to pull hard enough and it pops open.
Every Vulcan seems to be different. Before I modded mine, it would've taken an act of god to open the belt door.
Probably dead by now, or something.

Huh, weird.
I guess I got lucky, because I would not want to open up my vulcan to mod the door, or anything else for that matter. I'll stick with simpler things.

Yep, 2 screws. My Vulcan was jammed a little while ago, and to fix it, I just removed the 2 screws that hold that belt cover down. It still locks into place, but you can slip the whole belt cover off if you need to get into it.It only takes 2 screws to take the door off. The switch could be taped down from the outside, or glued. Mine was always a bitch to open too.

Thats why the little orange piece goes back in. Really, the tape is only wedged between the end of the switch and the orange piece. Its not really being used as an adhesive, just a spacer. And its reversible, which in my opinion is the best way to go whenever possible.Dude, don't tape it down. That tape will never hold. It only takes a couple of minutes to clip the wires off of the switch, twist them together, and solder them. Then, you can tape the wires to the inside of the shell so they don't get caught in the mech.
