Okay, so recently I went to Value Village, and picked a 3 dollar supersoaker, hoping to either shotgun it or salvage it for parts (I'm NOT going use it singled in a war so hold back your flames). What I cannot figure out is how it actually works. The following is what little I know:
-It has a rubber bladder much like the magstrike or RF20, except its circular. I think water is taken into this tank along with compressed air, and then shot out the valve.
-It also has a water storage tank which I don't think ever stores air pressure, like modern SS's do.
-The valve is very similar to that of a BBBB or a Titan, same old pull the metal rod set-up.

What I'm trying to accomplish:
-How this exactly works
-What I need to block off in order for it too be efficient at shooting air instead of water

The two-tank super soakers are pretty simple.

1. Pump sucks in water in the extend stroke
2. Pump forces water into bladder in the retract stroke
3. Repeat until bladder has enough of a pressure load to fire

You might want to try a bike or nerf pump in place of the super soaker one.

It already has two check valves. But because they were designed to allow it to pump water it may not be able to pump air at all.
Just replace the super-soaker pump with a bike pump or nerf gun pump.

The tank looks a lot like the mega missile tank. Does it leak alot like the mega missile does?

Alright, thanks, I'll try that. But how much of this:

...should I cut off when I replace the pump? (I'm asking because I'm not sure if there's a check valve hidden in there. Also, once I replace the pump, are there any places I'm going to need to plug?

Icespartan: I don't think that the air compresses in the water tank like modern SS's. I'm not completely sure, but I remember reading that at SScentral.

I have old super soakers, they can shoot air just fine.

You probably already know this, but CPS stands for constant pressure system, allowing the water to be shot out in a stream. If you hook up a bigger bladder you might be able to get semi auto design.

On the subject of making it shoot Nerf/Stefans, I have an attachment for mine (I have a CPS1000) and it shoots these awesome rockets I got at Ax Man in Minneapolis, MN about 70ft and with a fair degree of accuracy. I personally would have just left it that way instead of KILLING IT.

In short, your concept is good, your logic is flawed.

Yeah super soakers are EXTREMELY valuable. If you haven't screwed up your gun beyond water shooting, you should let it be able to shoot water still. Leave it in your closet until summer, then put it on ebay.

Edit: If its broken already, Fix it and reinforce it. If you want to mod a soaker, use a flash flood or something current that no one cares about.

Shit I already sliced off the nossel to make way for a coupler. I checked on SScentral before doing this and it said it would only go for 20 bucks. Now if I didn't have to go through ebay, I would sell something I bought for 3 bucks for 20 anyday, but my parents are bitches about paypal and ebay in general. So to me, instead of aggrevating them yet again with the subject, it was more worth it to mod it. Only 2 more years of this nonsense and I'll be able to make my own ebay account...

Edit: I want to keep the pump it has, because the trigger system is integrated around it. In short, replacing it would be a huge pain in the ass. I'm wondering if I can just let it suck air through where the tank used to be, and then store it in the bladder prior to firing. I also am against replacing the pump because it would then be plugged essentially, and I don't know how many pumps fill the bladder, so explodification would be a risk.

I already modded one of these in my early days.

Plugged the overpressure valve.
Also to a faster air release.
Cut the rings of the ends of balloons and stretch them onto the light bulb shaped bladder that is housed in that purple casing. I got to about 75 balloons and then I was satisfied.

It got about 150-165' I didn't have a measuring tape then.

After about 50 shots the front valve sprung a leak that was unrepairable.

If I remember correctly it is the upper rod that has the check valve.

Dux would be a good person to talk to about this.

He helped me mod mine around 2 years ago.

Sweet, thanks Angel. Did you have to cut apart the assembly of piping in order to get at the OP valve? If so, is it possible to get back together while remaining airtight?

I cut open the top of it and placed a bolt in the hole and then smothered it with epoxy.

Here is what I did to get rid of the over pressure valve.


The red is where a rod used to be.

I cannot remember what the green arrow is pointing to.

I am done with modding super soakers.
Odds are they wont be allowed in a war.
They have a tendency to leak at the front valve over time.
They take way to damn long to pump.
They are worth more on ebay.
