Lowes, Home Depot, and True-Value are all within a 2 mile radius of my house. They ALL carry CPVC.

EDIT: Where do you live? Outside the U.S. I can't guarantee anything.

Just a note, the McMasterCarr cpvc has an extremely small I.D. of about .469" and the inside surface is textured and will shred darts at high enough velocities.

No i live in the US, but all my local hardware stores think i'm some retarted little kid when i ask them about cpvc. They are like PVC? PVC? I'm like no and that's how usually turns out. Also i check in the pipe department and all they have is 1/2 in. pvc, how weird is that? I also checked on the online Lowe's, they had it, but at the store, they had no idea what i was talking about.

I go to Ace hardware and the PVC is right next to the CPVC. I never have seen CPVC at Menards, but maybe that's just th store near me.

For me, they don't carry CPVC at my local True Value or any Home Depot near me. But at Lowes, its near the steel pipes and the electrical(Don't know why) section

McMaster Carr online

Doesn't offer copper-size PVC pipe.

CPVC is a location dependent item. It's not available near me either.

I don't know. I spent months trying to track down some CPVC when I first started modding and I got similar responses to you nerfman. I had a similar problem with FBR. For CPVC, I just had to walk around the entire store until I found some. It's usually fairly close to the (white) PVC and often comes in 1/2" and 3/4" sizes. (Most places I've been keep the gray PVC used for conduit in a different area of the store). The CPVC is usually a bit more yellowish (or dare I say beige) in color. So just walk around a couple of local hardware stores looking for yellowish/tan/beige colored PVC, that'll be your CPVC.

Slug, where have you looked? I'm pretty sure I bought some in Leesburg when I was out there this summer.

I beg to differ, item 5037K31 on page 195 is indeed copper-size PVC pipe, though McMaster has it labeled as "CPVC Tubing", fittings are on the same page too.

Ah no wonder. That's not part of the normal plumbing supply section. It's wedged inbetween vaccuum tubing and copper pipe.

Edit: Who else noticed this note on Mcmaster page 195?

" Warning: Never use CPVC fittings and pipe with compressed air or gas. "

Yeah, and for good reason. Good thing we only use it for barrels, right?

... but i'm not allowed to buy stuff from people online. Parents said so.

I feel your pain, anyways, the Home Depot near me doesn't carry any CPVC, when I first went there to get my modding supplies, I asked them if they had any CPVC/Caulk Saver (FBR in U.S. terms) and they had NO CLUE what either of them were.
I went to Lowes/ACE on the other hand...and went home with 3 bags of FBR & 4, 5' rods of CPVC...Hopefully you have a Lowes and/or ACE near you. Good luck on your future mods :)

I am not the least bit surprised you couldn't find it at home depot, if whent up to em' and said exactly "Do you know where the fbr is?" they would have no clue. It is an acronym for Foam Backer Rod

Generally, you have to ask for whatever the official name is. Calling it "FBR" probably does nothing for them, or anyone else not intimately familiar with the NIC. The people in my local True-Value are not by any means dense, but if I told them I needed FBR, they would be just as confused. In contrast, if you said "caulk saver" they could probably lead you right to it on the quickfast.

I asked for foam backer rod and they were like "whats that", I went home and came back with a ripped up dart and they led me right to it.
On topic: I couldn't find it either, and I looked around and found it between the brass and pvc.

Well apparently in the New York City region. (The five boroughs (Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn,Staten Island and Manhatten)), Hardware stores are not allowed to sell CPVC pipping. Apparently all the sales associates I've asked said that the cpvc pipes aren't requlated for code for usuage in NYC. So it's as if it is banned from NYC. but they told me I can go to New Jersey or Upstate NY to find it. I don't understand. So I am trying to find an online store to buy CPVC from but can't find any. Any help. (Not mcmaster.com because that site confuses the hell out of me.)
