Well, from the scale of things in the OP photo, could you cram a coffee mug into the pouch? If so, you have a pretty good chance that it'll fit.

Edit: A large-ish coffee mug.

Edit2: You could easily covert it to an airsoft grenade/mine if you wanted to.

I would assume the M16 mag poucehs are the same as the F55 Austeyer pouches (3 magazines of 30rd 5.56x45mm)
and in that assumption, I would say no. You could probably really squeeze it in there, but otherwise, I really don't think it would fit.

What a great find and a great idea! Although they probably don't have much war practicality, I think these things would be alot of fun for indoor wars or HVZ.

On the other hand, I wonder if a disassembled one of these guys could be used to integrate sort of a shotgun blast/SMDTG type attachment to other blasters. If the range is no good, probably not, but it might make for a good experiment.

Looks like Ill be spending some money tomorrow at TRU. Between picking up a few of these, and getting the 8 shooters.

These seem very pactical. I think if you loaded some shotgun stefans (tiny ones) and a few into each barrel you could potentially have a 30 foot death rain. I would REALLY love to see internals on this thing, that way we can deduce what all can be done to it. With some pump plugging, and a barrel replacement you never know.

Pump plug and barrel replacement are pretty much the extent of modification potential for this.
There are 2 piston-valve outlets. The six barrels are basically divided into two sections, so three barrels share an outlet between them. Not very efficient, but as long as you haven't got the darts in there too tight, they'll all come out; whereas if they are in too tight, only a few will come out and all the air escaping through those empty barrels.

This will be easy to understand when I cbf posting the pictures and writeup. I screwed up my mod though, (check-valve damage) so it doesn't work anymore. You'll seee.

I was actually working on something pretty similar to this until school happenned. Now I'm like ~150 miles away from all my works in progress....

That pictures kinda old and the version 2 I made is even more padded and features larger tail fins due to a redesign of the launcher/ discarding sabot system and angled "mini-barrels" to get better spread. It's more of the direct-fire variety and even though I'd finished developing the rounds, I didn't want to post anything until I had the entire launcher system up and running.

The pneumatic "rocket" round uses a replaceable burst disk mechanism that you pre-charge with compressed air, and like the scatter blast, is triggered by a frontal impact. The difference is, mine spits out a blast of 32 nano instead. The blast radius is pretty decent; I set one off in my garage by dropping it straight down and the nanos pretty much shot straight outwards towards all the walls, some bouncing back and others getting mixed up with all the crud on my shelves and work table.

Back on topic, I can't wait to get my hands on one of these! I was so pissed at myself yesterday b/c me and a group of friends took the bus to some Korean restaurant and after we ate there was an HEB across the street, so we went inside and I freaking went through the toy section and halloween crap and didn't see this. I really want to go back, but the bus ride was over half an hour and it kinda made me want to puke, b/c I get carsick if I'm not the driver.

That looks awesome trigger. I think you should ahve angled the barrels a bit more up to avoid spraying at peoples feet. Overall that thing looks beastly and actually pretty professional.

A 6 dart blast outdoors would be a joke. You would really only have one dart flying at a particular person, and there's no guarantee it would hit them.

I've thrown a 40-dart SC at someone, and watched in astonishment as all 40 seemed to form a perfect circle around him and miss completely. This 6 dart contraption would be like arbitrarily shooting a Nite-Finder at somone while blindfolded. You probably won't hit.

Indoors, this would be useful. Outdoors, not so much.

Really? You saw these in Austin? Which HEB was it? I may be interested in picking one of these up, if they have ok range.

The one at the Y in Oak Hill. They also had Lanard Over Under twin packs, Tommy 12s, and some other Buzz Bee stuf.

When I first saw that thing, my first thought was to fire it at long range out of a small spud gun. Probably too dangerous for a Nerf war, but the concept of a Nerf firing mortar is AWESOME. I had an idea once to make a trip line type claymore using a titan with a huge shotgun barrel, but I never got around to it.

I'm wondering if this thing would have enough kick to shotgun load a few nano-stefans (2-3 per barrel). That would increase the foam load, though it would probably decrease the overal blast radius. Still, a 3'-4' radius with 12-18 shots would probably be a slight bit more effective than 6' x 6-shots. One thing to try would be to put the weights in off-center, so the darts would (intentionally) fishtail a bit, causing a more erratic flight path and, theoretically at least, a more effective spread.

I know if I get my hands on one or two of these, that's what I'll be trying.

What stores usually sell lanard toys? I don't think I've seen them paid much attention on the product awareness system so I'm not sure.

Ok, I got 2, and they SUCK! 3 foot "blast range" if you can even call it that. IT needs to land PERFECTLY straight to do any damage, and trust me accomplishing this is no small feat. It is WAY more effective just to hit them with it. end of rant.
How do you open them? They ore in need of SERIOUS help.

I got one and yes, it is tricky to get them to land nose down. On the
other hand the blast radius was excellent, well over 5 feet. With some
kind of barrel replacement and half stefens it would be fantastic. I got the
foam cover off, only way was to rip it, but don't rip it all the way down like I did.

I think I'm going to have to do some cutting, see how much deeper I can get into it.

Vimes - your efforts are greatly appreciated! Well done getting one of these broken down and taking pics for us.

A few questions though:


1) Your last pic is fairly blurry. Do there seem to be AR's in there to remove?

2) Do you think that one would be able to add extended barrels without interfering too much with the pump operation or the grenade's flight? (I'm not thinking anything huge - just enough to squeeze a few extra nano-stefans into the mix. If there are AR's, and if barrel replacement helps any, we might see some use out of these things if we can get enough foam scattering the area - like I mentioned above, off-center weights might help here with additional scatter effect.)
