Well, most of them have some sort of mechanism, like a spring, which pops open a lid or shoots foam out when activated. Many of mine are ones that just pop open when shot with the right force...

Umm I have a nade plan frogg made-
Materials:

2 film canisters w/o lids
mediaum-width rubberband
bits of foam

Pretty simple take the two anisters and fill them loosely with foam (so it falls out easily) put them end to end so no foam falls out then put the rubberband around it. just throw it the rubberband will chuck the canisters around throwing out the foam.
Works for me only thing, not very easily transported because it's no very hard for them to go off if you move too much good in base nades tho.

This is an experimental design you may have seen a month or two ago. Very workable, though I suggest you use a washer or some kind of metal plate on the front of the shell, as opposed to just a relatively sharp piece of crimped Brass.

Oh, and heh, you use it with the Removable Air tank technology. You just need a setup like that, and make the firing pin long enough that on a push, it goes into the O-ring of the air tank and moves the check plate, allowing air in. The air pressure should push the pin back out to reseal. All theoretical, but perfectly possible.

I created an impact greande design that went pretty unnoticed.

Supplies:

1/2 of a rubber band
duct tape/hot glue
2 half-egg carton domes (so if you put them end to end they'd be egg shaped)

Take the rubber band and attach one end to each pole of the egg dome assembly with the rubber band going around the dome. It shouldn't stay closed. Fill each side with foam pieces, and close the container with a piece of tape. When thrown, the container snaps open and literally flings foam in nearly all directions. I developed this over 9 months ago, and if I remember correctly, it got about a 3 foot spread radius.

This design isn't perfect, but it fits the main criteria for a grenade. The grenade can't be air powered. Air powered greandes require valves, which are expensive, and also make the device weigh more. No matter how much foam you wrap the grenade in (which ALSO increases cost) the grenade will hurt like a bitch if it makes a direct hit. Grenades must be made from a soft material and use a compression/tension power source.

But it's fun to blow chunks of flesh out of your friends! ...Honest!

But I understand your point. I'm just not a fan of using tape's adhesivity (If that's a word ), coupled with momentum, to detonate a grenade.

The best, simplest, and cheapest system I can get that I like is remote triggering, performed by... Cheap and lame as this seems... Attaching a cord to the firing pin of the grenade. If launched, or thrown, it should have enough momentum that when you pull the cord, the pin moves, at least slightly, firing the valve and sending foam in all directions. The advantage of this kind of system would be that you could nail anyone behind cover by launching this, and detonating it directly over their heads. But, as said, still experimental, if that.

But hey, maybe the grenades I make just suck. I'll try your design, Dan.
