I received my SNAPbow today, and built my own today. Paintjob on mine is still drying, but the real point of this thread is for a review on it. One, if you need a primary FUCK CROSSBOWS. Now I love my crossbow, but the SNAPbow I got from rork is possibly the best gun in my arsenal, and one of the cheapest. I got it for $52.00 and thats shipped. It's simple and easy to use. Now if anyone has a gun that they want to review post it in this topic. Sorry if someone already made a gun review topic.

Hm.. 52 bucks? That's a little steep, ain't it? Does'nt it only cost like, ten dollars to build? And can you post ranges, accuracy, etc?

It's not like that. I put lube on it and its the same. Its just stuck. And when I cock it back it goes farther back then usual. Also I push as hard as I can and it wont go back in. I've tried the methods and they wont work. Also pics are up.

All it is is one of carbon's snaps with a stock and a tee coupler for a handle. I think rork should of consulted with carbon before selling his overpriced snaps.

I asked Carbon before starting a sales thread. Don't run your mouth about things you don't know anything about. ~Rork

@ Nerfonfier: Thanks for the good word, by the way.

No joke about this. Accuracy is dead on, and could be even better if you attatch the stock he gives you. I just kept it off because it's easier to store and to prime. It's a springer that seriously gets great range. I'm being 100% honest, i'm getting 120FT average flat with a CPVC nested in PVC 12" barrel. If you don't believe me go out and message rork, get one for your self.

Oh shit sorry I just read your writeup. I was confusing this with the snap with the cardboard on it to make it look like a plusbow. But for the price of materials I don't think a $30 fee for work is applicable. Carbon was selling the same thing minus the stock for $20 ( I think don't quote me on it).

120 ft?! Wow. How far is it accurate to? Like, how far away can you hit a tree? (That's how I test my accuracy. :D ) And a 12" barrel made of CPVC? I wonder if you could get even better range with a shorter barrel, seeing as CPVC is tight, and you can't ramrod it down the barrel like PVC. What kind of spring are you using in it? Do you know?

Carbon's are different, and for the time and work it takes to put into these great primaries, it's a fucking steal. Without buying this one I would have had no idea on how to make one, plus these are easier to customize. :P

That's fine. The pricing is a result of the fact that it takes about 3-4 hours to make these, as there's quite a bit of fitting and tweaking involved; it comes out to about $10 per hour fabrication fee, which I feel is appropriate. The SNAPs Carbon was selling for $20 were SNAP-1 pistols; there are substantial differences in construction, and as Nerfonfier says, the SNAPbow gets VERY good ranges, as well as featuring extremely solid overall construction.

On a side note rork was that you that had the snap then added cardboard(or some similar material) on the side to make it resemble a plusbow? I guess you can justify that price. I personally don't see the appeal in buying these as many wars will not allow these. For $50 you could easily build a good BBB or pump action shotgun.

12" is the best size, I also tried 10" and 6". The first is the best. As for accuracy, let's just say when I shoot straight up it lands an inch away from me, when I shoot straight and flat, it starts to drop at about 90FT, and even at that it drops very slowly. I can hit a moving target at 90FT away EASILY. Also, there's no need to ramrod as you can see it's a somewhat speed loader, it's couplered. The spring I believe is a plusbow spring, but i'm not positive.

For $50 dollars you can get an amazing dinner, get a SNAPbow, or pay some girl for something i'm not going to mention. It's time consuming as hell and EXTREMELY hard to clone FA 24's pump action shotgun. This is allowed at all wars considering it is as powerful as a well modded crossbow or a plusbow. As for BBB's, my friend has one. I was at his house today, we had a war. My score - 21, his score - 3. He gave up half way through. You do the math.

Nonsense Man: You're thinking of asideofnerf's "LID," which I had nothing to do with. As far as war legality goes, the SNAP is a classic, well-known platform, and the SNAPbow is a Crossbow analog; I'm using one at SENO, and Nerfonfier's is going to DCNO. The problem with homemades as I understand it has traditionally based upon power issues, and homemade springers avoid this altogether; witness the +bow's success. ~Rork

EDIT: the spring IS a plusbow spring, which is the main place the great performance comes from. It's not at plusbow levels, but it's enough.

Ok that thing was stupid as shit. Also if you look at it the pump action shotty isn't that amazingly hard to replicate. The hardest part would be getting all the springs.

Isn't amazingly hard to replicate? Tell that to FA 24, and my 3 broken guns. I'm not a bad modder, and I get out there and play. Trust me on this one. It's pretty fucking difficult.

I think he's referring to the single-shot ballgun, not the Doomsayer platform.

I personally don't see the appeal in buying these as many wars will not allow these.

Not wars you would want to attend anyways.

The only situation where a SNAPbow or +bow should not be used at full draw length is indoors. Which is why the plunger rod has multiple notches.

I will agree that the +bow is better for ALL wars, but for larger wars they have about the same performance. I've used both at wars, and both get great ranges.

"Not wars you would want to attend anyways."

Are you saying that the SNAPbow isn't war-appropriate, Or that people who use homemades can just avoid wars that ban homemades?

I'm saying its very appropriate for Nerf Wars, provided they are outside. It shoots too far to be used consistently indoors where most hits are from less than 40 or 50 feet away.
And wars that ban homemades verbatim need their rules re-evaluated because homemades have changed a great deal in the past few years.

I think he meant wars that do not allow homemades such as the +bow or the snapbow would be less desirable as the rules are waaay to strict as not all home mades are 200' shooting airgun monstrosities. My stance there was the older stance on home mades in wars.

Ha. I built my own, and after all the mess ups, I spent a total of about 60-70 dollars. but I gained alot of experience.

Also, thanks for your plunger head design Rork. I used that instead, and my ranges improved dramatically. its great.

I'm glad to see the design being used. There are a few of these popping up here and there now...
