So my parents are warning me that there are laws that could be broken when nerfing in public...True or false? Just post if you do know any.

Well I live in Canada and I asked my friends dad who's a cop and he says just leave them there fruity color dont paint them black and your fine.

Your parents are making things up. Playing with children's toys in public is illegal in Canada? Their gun control laws aren't THAT crazy yet.

I had a twelve-person war for my birthday a couple of weeks ago, in a park in downtown Toronto (a city where gun control is a particularly hot issue of late). After a few hours, a police car patrolled through and pulled up next to us. We explained to the officers what we were up to, they wanted to know how hard the blasters fired, and then they bade us good day with smiles all around. We did offer to let them join in, which they thought was hilarious.

Don't be a jerk to anyone, respect the cops if they show up, and you'll be fine. And yeah, keep the blasters silly-coloured... legally speaking, carrying anything that closely resembles a firearm can constitute a firearms offence, and the fuzz will respond as such.

If there were any, would Hell Before Halloween exist at all? I highly doubt there are any laws against it. Then again, I live in Texas, so I couldn't say what laws there are up in Canada.

You guys should kick it so-cal style Neon PINK and other unaturally bright colors. The thing is just don't make it too realistic, keep it looking like toys

To my knowledge only Conservation areas have problems with "Ballistics". That is what they refer to them as.
You cannot paint ball or Air soft in public. Nerf is Neither of those. We had no problems last year at Hell.
One time I went to range test a few of my guns. The guns I brought were a Titan, Pump action shotgun, and another pump action shotgun. Now the Pump action shotguns are pretty real looking from a distance.
As I was walking back home, I noticed a cop in front of the school where I was range testing. I walked over to him and asked him he came to the school because someone called in about me. He replied "No, what are those?" In which I answered they are modified Nerf guns, I took them out for a range test to see how much farther and faster they can shoot. He responded, "Thats pretty cool. Have you seen a guy around here with a white shirt and an orange hat?" I responded no and then we both went on our way.

BUT seriously Canada is pretty cool with this kinda stuff. I mean GTA(Greater Toronto Area) is having more gun violence but they are trying to stop real guns from hurting people not toy foam dart blasters that barely bruise skin. Just don't go running towards a cop with a "Lancer" and you'll be good.

^Even with a Lancer I doubt a Canadian cop would do anything other than laugh or give you funny looks. (The former, if you rev up the chainsaw on the Lancer and turn on the LEDs. XD)

I've brought my BLASTERS around elementary schools, high schools, universities, large social gatherings like open-air theatres, movie theatres, et cetera. I've never been stopped by police. The only time Campus Security spoke to us was if we were too big and using a high-traffic area and were asked to move somewhere less populated... well that, and when my friend had a bee sting and needed first aid (because he was allergic to bees). And even then they didn't tell us to stop or anything because we were at an empty area.

Funny, in the US, I brought a blaster to school to show a friend and brought it out AFTER SCHOOL to show it to him. The lunch monitor freaked out and called my mother.

Was it AT the school? There you go. Even fifteen years ago when I was in high school, they had a "Zero Tolerance" policy. They didn't care for the plastic disc guns we brought. I think a lot of it was that one friend was a terrible shot and actually hit the principal.

I walked by a couple of cops, who were for some reason checking out the cemetery which I walk through to get home. At 2 am. I had my Longshot and a gym bag full of stuff. They looked at me as I walked by, and then got into their cruisers and left. This after a recent string of asian gang-related shootings...

I live in littleton CO, and live right next to columbine. In all honesty I am a bit worried about nerfing but most of the cops around here are pretty cool about most stuff so it shouldn't be a big deal. Just a big no no to bring anything that fires anykind of projectile near a school.

A friend of mine got suspended for 2 weeks when he brought a nerf gun and showed me after school much like draconis. Seriously its hardcore here.
