When I was just starting out with nerf (Just over a year ago), I found it hard to understand what were disscussing because I had no idea what the different guns were or what they were effective as. So now having many mods under my belt I figured it would be benificial to newer nerfers that they are able to find all this information at once than bumbling around untill they are warned or labeled an idiot.

so would like to have this possible gun directory looking like this template:

Making a long list of range expectations seems to a bit silly to me since they're pretty variable.

Hence why I didn't include them in the individual pages for the blaster list.

Hmm... I don't particularly mind, but I'm predicting massive flamage from other members.

I appreciate what you're trying to do, but some of your specs are a little subjective. Possible range is a little open ended and subject to debate. Standard position is also pretty useless; everyone knows the NF is generally used as a sidearm.

Not trying to flame you, but why not shift the focus a little? I had the idea a while back about creating an internals library to help people with confusing parts. Now, the NF is fairly straightforward, but I can give two examples right off the top of my head that would be helpful to have picture reference:

-The rotation mechanism on the at3k and sm3k
-The position of the trigger block on the sm3k

There are two more problems. First, by posting a topic like this, you are taking upon yourself the responsibility to update this list every time someone would post a contribution. Those mods don't just appear in the directory. I don't like to judge by the number of posts someone has, but because you're a fairly new member, do you think you could keep up with that? I'd be happy to post some pictures and specs now, but it would show up as a comment and not appear in the list. You would have to update it yourself.

Second; there's this thing called the Nerf Wiki...

This could theoretically be useful for basic reference. However: a problem arises when one considers that all the categories used to describe the guns depend on measurements that normally turn out to be rather arbitrary and unreliable--particularly range. I foresee this turning into a range-based bullshit fest. For example: 80 feet on a NF? Sure, it's possible--but when the first slew of noobs can't believe that a barrel replacement doesn't give them 80 feet, it's likely to devolve into a pissing contest. If people are going to create this wiki-style, it's begging the question: is the NF in question nearly stock? Has it been rebarreled and fitted with a new spring? Or is it Daedelus? This could be a great resource for new members (possibly reducing the number of "what gun should I get?" threads), but some kinks would have to be ironed out. Perhaps a simple scale (crappy/short/average/long), although that could end up with a "losing" debate. ~Rork

By the way: I just typed "losing," not "the-word-we-fucking-hate-ing." Oh, I love that filter...

The difficulty I'm seeing is apparent already. Look at all the posts: people are willing to help and there's obviously some benefit everyone who has posted can see in this project, but those are lists are pretty huge. How are you going to add those to the directory?

If this idea really does take off, do you really think everyone is going to look through those huge lists to see if their contributions have already been posted or not? It would get super repetitive.

When a new write up is posted, the link is edited into the directory. In order to have this work, we would have to post new threads with the specs of every gun and you would then edit them in.

If you are reeeeeeeeeally serious about doing this, the only way I can see this working is if we all PM'd you the specs we come up with and you copy and paste them into the original post.

EDIT: and to answer your question, it's worth it if it's useful to someone. If it reduces the number of noobs that ask range/"which gun should I buy" threads, I'd say it's worth it. I can PM you pictures of the internals of "problem guns" and I think that would add to its utility.

Personally I like this.

I just do not like the title.

It should be "Guide to guns directory."

There are many guns out there I have no clue on and would be curious as to their stock ranges.
There are very few people if any who know the specs on all Nerf guns.
I would even refer to this thing and it in now way makes me a noob.

I would say remove average price. Stuff regarding an average price list has been proposed before, and is usually shot down.

And for range make it either low, med, high, extremely high, with low= <50', med=60'-80', high=80'-110', and extremely high=110'+

I don't think you should necessarily remove the average price. I do think, however, you should correct some of them/make the range broader. For example on the Crossbow, it shouldn't be $130-200, more like $100-200. Many people have bought Crossbows for under $130. Granted, I am not one of them. But still.

I did that more of a price on the NIC. If you find one for under $130, throw me a link : P.

Well, at least set it as $110-200 or something. I have before seen Crossbows for sale at $110 or so on the NIC. I don't remember exactly when, but I'm sure I have. But whatever. I guess with inflation and all, $130-200 will be completely true soon enough...

I can think of many harder mods than the doomsayer. This should be a lvl 8 maybe. I attempted it with nothing but a LS AR removal under my belt, and found it quite easy, but could not finish it due to not having any pushnuts. I think something like the eyes of fire, or angel's LS mod would be harder, but that is just my oppinion. I love this idea, and here is one of my own you may want to consider

Well I have added the longshot....and included a "scale" to judge on what to call ranges and modding difficultly.
Plus if anyone would like to suggest any other catergories please post. and I am keeping the avg. price, only to help newer nerfers realize what they could afford. I know you can find guns cheaper than posted price but its what you would expect to buy said gun at. And I'm going to add rarity of the gun with the similar scale compared to the modding difficulty.
