I put this in off topic because I really don't think it belongs in modifications and trading didn't seem right either.

Does anyone know of or have a triangle screw driver for opening this gun up?

I do not want to hear about melting pens and molding the screw hole with them because I tried it and it didn't work.

My commlink II had the same screws. I was able to get all but two of them out with a flathad and I had to drill the other two.

This is about nerf, so general nerf is probably where it could jave been.

The best luck I had in getting these little buggers out was to get a flathead screwdriver that was slightly too wide to fit into the hole and then grind it down until it is just skinny enough to go in parallel to one side of the triangle. I hope that made sense.

Look for a TriWing screwdriver on Froogle. They sell them to open up Nintendo products.

I picked up a 120-Piece bit set with 4 sizes of TriWing for $24, and it came with every bit I'll ever need to open up pretty much everything.

They're also called gamebits because they're used in several consoles.

But any really large screwdriver bit set that includes tamper-resist bits will include triangle power bits.

No, what I'm telling you is that your terminology is incorrect. Tri-wing bits and screws are different from Triangle (or "Triangle Power") bits and screws. They are not compatible with each other. I'm not saying I know which kinds of screws are in which guns.

Triangle comes in 4 screw sizes: T18, T20, T23, T27
Tri-wing comes in 6 screw sizes: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10

"gamebit" on the other hand is a widely generic term used for bits that could be more accurately found using the other names.

And I can testify to the fact that an electric eel does have triangle (and not tri-wing) screws. In fact, I was just looking at McMaster for triangle drivers today...I need to measure the size of the screws first, though.

PS: Radio Shack and the home improvement stores had no triangle drivers. One guy suggested a specialty-computer store.

You can find them in most large screwdriver bit sets at hardware stores. Only industrial suppliers are likely to sell individual bits.

I believe baghead said that he took a useless phillips screwdriver andground it into the triange shape. Look up the electric ell mod in the directory. 1 or 2 comments down.

Yep...exactly what I did... I think I got the idea from Starbuck... cuz he did it when he needed to mod a comlink or something...

On page 2773 on www.mcmaster.com has the driver bits you are looking for. Just type in Triangle Screwdriver Bits and it will take you to the page you need.

I had a new school tech target and to get the plunger open, you need a triangle head. I picked one up from ace, check there.
