First off, thanks for the help with my Nitefinder!

I'm about to start Dragonteuthis' Maverick Mod: The Foaminator 3000 and I noticed something peculiar about the Maverick's barrel. The holes at the back of the barrel don't quite match up with the raised half-circle that holds the straws. Here's a real crappy picture on paint of it since I don't have my camera with me.



So, my question is, do you leave the straws in the half-circle and let the foam fill in part of the hole, or do you keep the straws centered on the hole itself?

As far as I'm concerned, it won't make a noticeable difference.
There are other things that matter alot more.

Straw in hole. The semi circle inside was for holding the ar springs in place.

It might have been better to contact the creator of the mod, it would've been a little more direct. Unless he's inactive, then screw it.

I haven't personally tried it, but I've read mixed reviews on this "straw mod." Some people apparently reported little range difference, and some said that it even decreased range. However, it would definitely be worth a try, I think. Knowing definitively whether or not this improves the maverick would be a valuable thing for the NIC. I know the guy that made it vouches for its value, but I'm still a little skeptical.

Yeah, the creator has been inactive for about a year, so I figured he wouldn't answer. I finished the mod and I'm waiting for the foam to cure, hopefully it'll help. Thanks for all the help.

*edit* Just finishing putting it back together (after waiting for the foam to cure and going to the hospital because I apparently can operate a dremel just fine but have trouble working an exacto blade) and I've gone from 25'-30' flat to about 40'-45' flat. I was tempted to replace the barrel, but then I realized how nicely homemade darts fit into the barrel. Thanks again for all the help!
