So this is a very simple mod since as far as I could tell the gun itself is pretty straight forward and not much room for improvement.
Background
The AT4k is like its previous brethren except that it sports a 12 shot cylinder and is auto rotating. I opened it up a few weeks ago and nearly shit myself looking at the internals. I forgot to take a picture as I hurriedly closed it in fears that I would loss one of the many parts. First pump rotates the cylinder and then all pumps after fill the blast chamber. Pull trigger and repeat.
So all there is to do was a barrel replacement. I work at a daycare, so there are always dead markers laying around, so I have a bag of 20+
Posted Image

So as you can see, it one of those annoying ARs that takes more than just pulling out the 3 prong bit.
Posted Image

That's ok, because we are going to just pull everything out, as you can well see.
Posted Image

Now just put some electrical tape around the barrels
Posted Image

And there you have it.

I don't have ranges since I live in an apartment in NYC, and taking any gun like object outside is just begging for trouble. [---Ranges were attempted to be measured and came to 35ft average. This is done through various methods that are not the universally accepted tape on ground system and such is not an official range--] I didn't glue down the barrels since I think longer barrels would be beneficial. I also did not plug the pump as this gun would be good for just pumping and firing in a rushed situation; plugged pumps lead to burst internals.

Questions, comments, compliments?

I can imagine that with longer barrels and a plugged pump this thing would be incredible. 60ish feet right now with a crayola barrel and a pump that isn't even plugged is pretty good in my opinion.

Good Write-up. The pictures were very clear. This one had better make it into the directory.

3, which is another reason I didn't plug it. It barely takes any pumps to get it primed.

I think you did a good job. I would recommend plugging the pump though. Plugged pumps only lead to burst tanks if you can't count to four.

In my experience, the airtech series use the same internals with different numbers of barrels (at2k and at3k are my examples). Having never seen a 4k in person, I can't say the same is true with this one, but plugging the pump is something I've always done and, with caution, I haven't had any busted internals yet.

Also, ranges would really be appreciated. I know you said it's difficult where you live, but from what I've heard about the 4k combined with the fact that you're using crayola barrels, I think 60 feet is a little far-fetched. I'm not calling you a liar, but that would really set my mind at ease if you could confirm that.

Other than that, great work! I hope it works well for you.

Nice write up.

The biggest problem with the AT4K is the rotating mech tends to break alot.
If you are going to replace the barrels, use something light weight like petg.

I hear ya, but I really have no way of measuring it and I am in no mood to get in a discussion with NYC cops about my carrying a 'weapon'. I am just removing ranges.

Actually, I did this with PETG and got no better results. I was surprised at 50 feet. I then tried longer barrels with lesser results. But 12 shots at 50 feet is good enough!

Good mod CP, nice clear pictures, and good descriptions.

Yes, be very careful with this gun, it have a very fragile rotating mech, don't rotate the barrels the opposite way, or let some immature person use it who will not heed your instructions.

Nice little mod there. I need to get my hands on an AT3k or 4k someday, they seem to have quite a bit of potential.

I never really knew there was AT4K's out there, but what's the difference other than the size and amount of barrels? Is the bladder larger therefore holds more air required for the eight barrels? I wanted to create a DTG with AT2K,3K, or 4K internals based on hereticorp's BBBB DTG.

On topic: VERY nice mod since I have never seen an AT4K with barrel replacements. I am considering getting one for the range and ROF it has although a DTG has more shots.

Thanks

Actually, its 12 shots, not 8.

The airtank (not bladder) is bigger than a 2k, and 3k's tank, but it has a slower air release.

The insides of it are incredible! It is WAY overdesigned, the same effect could be kept with a simpler system, but alas, that why I yell "HASBRO!" when I use the vulcan...

The AR's are really easy to get out, not glued in. It really is a fun gun to rebarrel since its so easy.

The only con's of the AT4K (in my opinion), are that its freakin huge, hard to pump, and hard to find. I definitely prefer my 2k, but a 4k is great too.

Ya, Manhattan is fun like that. I came from VT where I used to walk into the woods with a .22lr and no one cared.

OKAY ILL DO THAT I LUV YELLING ON TEH INTERNET TOO!!! Learn to turn off your caps lock key please. We can all see what you typed in lowercase letters.

But on topic: This is a very simple mod. Thanks. The pictures are very clear, and it was easy to follow. But if I ever do get an AT4K, I'd still rather stick the turret on a big blast.

It's not like that. I put lube on it and its the same. Its just stuck. And when I cock it back it goes farther back then usual. Also I push as hard as I can and it wont go back in. I've tried the methods and they wont work. Also pics are up.

Sounds like a perfect candidate for external air supply.

Just take some pliers or channel locks and twist em. First, I cut down the stock barrels, and then pulled them out. They came out REALLY easily.

Sorry, next picture will make it easier to understand.

Unscrew this part first. This presses the barrels into the turret.
The tube/dart peg then will be exposed to be cut off and then use pliers to pull out the rest.
