Nothing to do with the original post which seems to be about encouraging theft but I haven't paid over $1 for sunglasses in several years. There's an indoor swap meet not too far from my house and every time I'm near there I pick up a few new pairs. Exciting? Not really. But it will take me a really long time to equal the price of my last pair of Oakleys (10+ years ago).
I hate overpaying for crap. Have you seen what Oakley is charging for fucking glasses and watches these days?!

I guess you mean after the bombing. I actually went to the place where the bombs went off.You went to Indonesia at this time? I've went their twice and the 2nd time was much worse than the first. The radical muslims there are scary, but its worth all the pirated stuff you get at the malls. I got 2 cds for like a buck with every sega game you could ever want. Haven't checked out the Dvd's though.
Everyone is so poor there. They all sell this crap that nobody wants, like scarfs and wood carvings, junk like that. Although some of the stuff isnt half bad. I also bought a tag heuer watch for 8 bucks.
The one thing I dont understand though is how they get movies like the Matrix Revolutions and Return of the King before they even come out?

Uhh...they sit in the theater and tape it...The one thing I dont understand though is how they get movies like the Matrix Revolutions and Return of the King before they even come out?
On Dateline or 20/20 or whatever, a few years ago, they had this thing about pirated videos, and some of the people did exactly what I said. It was funny, 'cause the tops of peoples' heads were showing...

As I said note, I don't know how they aquire anything over there. Maybe because they make it? I don't know.

The dvds didnt come in plastic casing but they did have a cover and a nice label on the cds themselves. What I found funny was on the back of the Matrix Revolutions cover, where they show a few scenes from the movie they had scenes from the Matrix Reloaded. Obiously pirated dvds are not illegal in indonesia. They have no rules whatsoever in that place. Its crazy. Not even traffic laws. The reason of this is because the government doenst have the money to enforce the laws since there so poor.First of all, are you sure that the DvDs aren't bootlegs? Do they come in shrink wrap? Do they have a security lable and all that? With everything included? If not, then they most likely bootleg the stuff, package it the best they can, and sell it for what it's worth... nothing. Buying pirated stuff, to me, is just dumb. I mean, I do tons of illegal and wrong things, but yeah... why not get the actual thing, and not have to put up with copies, or mock ups, or poor imitations? Do as you wish, but if your supposed DvDs are bootlegs, no wonder you got them so cheap.
As I said note, I don't know how they aquire anything over there. Maybe because they make it? I don't know.
Where I live though pirated stuff is illegal so you have to be a bit careful. Usually they dont catch you. Some of my friends have hundreds of dvds.
