I'm curious to know what the difference is, if any, between the 1998 BBB and the Target reissue. I searched and checked the wiki but came up with nothing. Mine is a first gen and had no air restrictors other than the little piece at the tip of the barrel that prevents things from dropping down inside the gun.

I have the newer Target reissue, it actually has a spring-loaded AR like the all the newer blasters. Other than that Im not sure of what else is different.

The only real difference is that the old one had those weird star sticker things, and the spring load ar's as aimless said.

There are some claims that the 1st gen BBB had a stronger spring. I got a reissue and it's already pretty damn strong for a nerf-brand gun, I'm not complaining.

Okay. I thought that was the case but I was looking for someone to confirm it. Thanks to everyone else also.

EDIT: Cool, I was hoping someone would be able to side by side compare them. Thanks nerfer34.

1st Gen is stronger. I have both right here with me. I actually am not sure if the 1st gen has a stronger spring because I haven't openned it up in years but I'm assuming it does.

The fist gen one is slightly better, in terms of power, but I'm not sure it's because the spring is stronger. My friend has a first gen and with the same mods, he got an average of ~10' more than my reissue(sp?). I assume it is because the spring is stronger but again, I have no evidence of this. The first gen also has no warnings on the side. I know that doesn't affect performance, but it's still an interesting tidbit(sp?) of information.

I ripped the spring out of my Target BBB and measured the force at 3" of compression. Though my bathroom scale isn't the most accurate thing the world I got a reading of 11lbs -/+1lbs, the reported force of the old spring is around 15lbs. I might have got a dud, but I still find it odd.

Edit: Actually when I think about it, the weaker spring would be Hasbro's way of avoiding backlash from possible injuries which fits in perfectly with the current trend.

Does the re-issue have a regular o-ring or is it like the old one with the piece of plastic?

Look, if you want a powerful modified BBB, then I'd reccomend the Big Bad Sexy. I did it to my BBB and got around 100' ranges flat. 100' is plenty of distance for a spring gun.

EDIT- Mine is the newer BBB
