I have read about wrapping electrical tape over the plunger head for a better seal in a number of write ups. Particularily this NF mod. I have a nite finder myself, and when I tried it the range seemed to be decerased a bit. Any tips for properley executing such a mod?

what you do is you take a slice of the tape and put it where the o-ring was, and then put the o-ring on. You could also use teflon tape, and/or add another o-ring. For inverted plungers, just take the tape, put it where the o-ring was (use the whole width of the tape), then put the o-ring on. Hope that helps.

EDIT: shouldn't this go in mods?

It depends on how you want to do it, but most of the time you remove the stock o-ring, then wrap small amounts of e-tape on the plunger head, and replace the o-ring over top. This will push the o-ring out just a little bit and improve your seal. You can also just wrap it over top (I use this method on guns with weak sealing mechs, such as the xbow), but either way make sure you lube it up real good after you're done.

That's exactly what I tried.

I'll try lubing it a tad.

I simply removed the O ring, added ONE layer of E tape, and replaced the O ring. Keep in mind this is on a NF, if that changes anything.

Also: This totally should be in mods section. It was an accident not posting it there.

Then add more tape. You want it so when the o-ring is on, it touches the walls of the plunger tube, but you want it to also slide freely. Don't forget to use silicone lubricant also.

I find that adding the e-tape directly over the o-ring seems better than under the o-ring in NF's.

Wow. I can't wait until that starts to smell like shit. Veggie Oil rots, and dries. It also eats away at synthetic materials (plastic, rubber). I learned about that in this.

Another question: Is adding E-tape to the plunger head of a long shot a good idea? I haven't seen it done in any mods on this site.

Yes, that's fine. It can be done with any gun using o-rings.

We'll that's the thing, I haven't seen anyone do it. So I'm having second thoughts about it.

I don't ever use e-tape on plunger heads anymore except under the existing o-ring, but I prefer to just replace the o-ring with a bigger one if I can. I find using e-tape as the seal itself isn't durable enough and tends to come unraveled.

When speaking about a swallow, always make sure you know whether it is an African or European swallow. It is very important.
