Hi,

I am buying a magstrike, I am going to do all of angel's modifications to the badder. I was wondering, would it be even slightly possible to add a pressure guage onto the exterior of the frame? Would it change the over all range of the darts?

I have no idea if this will work so I had to ask someone with som experience with this gun before attempting.

Yes I do, mostly with the maverick. I wanted to move on to a new and different gun.

I have read most of his newer mods ,but I have never seen a gauge on anyone's magstrikes. All people tell you is "don't go over 50 pumps" I think thats a little primative.

Makeing a pressure gauge would be useless seeing as the air bladder keeps the presure at a constant level.

Yes, you can, but it's really pointless.

Pump it till it pops, go over to TJ Maxx and get a cheap new one, pump it 5 less pumps, there's your pressure gauge.

It shouldn't affect the firing of the gun due to the inherent limitations of the Magstrike design, the air pressure drives the advancing mechanism and has almost nothing to do with the strength of the air pushing the dart.

I had a big debate over at NHQ about this exact idea.

$12 for 4..... there are many pressures available plus some computerized ones with blinking leds for when pressure is too low...

I think its a good idea, I replaced my "fast/slow" switch on my rf20 with a Tee and attached a schrader valve to the tee. I planned to screw one of those onto it and the servos for my tugboat came in the mail the next day distracting me for 2 weeks easily if not more...

you could easily cut a line, attach a tee and epoxy the valve gauge to the tee...

I get what you are saying, as air fills the bladder, rather than the psi going up, the bladder expands.

It would be nice to have a switch at the end of the bladder case and when the bladder touches it a LED light turns on at the back of the gun.

Could ANYTHING similar to a gauge or an indicater light help deturmine the fullness of the bladder?

Changing out the overpressure valve switch for a contact switch to light an LED or something would work perfectly if you really wanted to do it that way, it wouldn't be hard, just line up some AA batteries and an LED with a pressure switch.

WOW! good idea, but I don't need four, is there a way to just get one? would they be at an auto parts store?

Thanks, this looks cool ,but like Gran said would it just read psi? If it did the bladder could only be half full and read the same psi as if it was at its max?

Haha. I feel bad for you. A friend of mine's internet cuts off too. His dad is a total prick. I mean seriously, he's almost 19.

Anyway, it would be easy enough to add a "trigger switch" like that on the firefly to an arbitrary point on the magstrike. The entire circuit would just be battery to switch to led to battery. Put the trigger switch in the spot so that when the bladder is maxed out, it connects the circuit then and only then. Ta da!!

Now that your problem is solved, I have a question for all of you who know air guns. This is my area of weakness. I know jack shit about them. What I want to know is if it's possible to add a pressure gauge to an At2k, like the one on a Titan.

And a quick where-and-how-to-add a gauge. Would I do it in the tubing? Or do I have to drill into the air tank, like on the titan?

Just like I did with the Titan, You can add a T connector anywhere in the system (after the check valve) and it will show you what the pressure is. Doesn't really matter on the dump valve guns.
The blast chamber type (like the BS and Hornet) would be a little different. You could add a gauge, but it would have to be after the check valve from the pump, and before the back pressure relief valve. Basically exactly where I put the external feed on my BSs and Triple Strike: screwed directly in to a tapped hole in the pump/valve assembly housing.
